Re: Ice House Canyon Trail

My family wants to try their luck up Timber tomorrow. Anybody been up Icehouse this week? Is there significant snow on the trail? They don't have micro spikes.

Re: The Bobcat Stove System

hmm. thats weird. I thought it was common because I typically do have problems with these types of stoves (green propane can) when temps drop below 20f. I even went to Big5 there in Yucca Valley and picked up one of the single burner butane stoves (fuel bottle looks similar to a spray paint can) and...

Re: The Bobcat Stove System

Yup, those big green cannisters. This was a car camping trip over New Years that I'm referring to. I also went out there on an overnight recently but on that one my alcy stove worked fine just boiling ramen for 1. Maybe the white gas stove is the way to go then. I even thought about taking a very si...

Re: The Bobcat Stove System

great post! i was thinking about contacting you actually. i recently did a trip in JT where we struggled each morning to get coffee going for a group of 6 adults. Mornings were around 15-20f and the propane stoves we had would light up fine and then just die down to barely a sputtering flame after a...

i dont know how you found this. I was wondering what the story was behind all those flowers on the trail. would be nice if somebody returned within a few days to clean those up. or maybe they did, i dont know.

Re: Reccomended hikes out of lytle creek yellow post sites

my guess is the baldy notch trail will be no issue at all. its all fireroad and the trails are pretty clear up there right now, i doubt it will be an issue. a more interesting but slightly harder hike would be the trail from Middle fork lytle creek up to icehouse saddle. seem to recall its like 10mi...

Hey everyday! what's up! looks like youre having a good time discovering all the trails up there. I will be watching this thread, running that 50 miler would be fun. It's a bit of a drive so things would have to line up right. I'll tell Craig about it too.

Re: Baldy summit vandalism

Personally, I would never tear down something that so many people seem to enjoy. But I do wish they were never built in the first place. I know i was disappointed to see those things up there my first time up. I also dont like damming creeks for swimming, placing rocks and logs for stream crossings,...

Re: Baldy summit vandalism

Is it possible they didnt know they were vandalising something? Are those windshelters official structures of some kind or are they just improvised shelters made by hikers? if they are built by hikers looking for a break from the wind, then is this really vandalism? Of course, if they truly were try...

Re: Anyone else have IT Band Syndrome?

I'm hoping I'm done with mine. Ran 10 miles yesterday with no symptoms. Started in April for me when I increased my weekly mileage during training for a trip. I trained through it with many different attempts at healing it, including excersises, stretches, foam roller, massage, hot tub, etc. only no...

Re: How could you not love this face?

Hi CM. Beautiful animals. Just curious, how are our local kitties doing? Does Socal have a good healthy population thriving here? I know some would say they must be doing fine since they are spotted all over, but I was wondering if the smart folks who pay attention to actual numbers would agree with...
