Re: Ten days in Tuolumne & the High Sierra backcountry

Thank you! The chili cans were opened and the contents double bagged. A tad heavy but for $0.99 you cannot beat the 700 calories, 42grams of protein, and 28grams of fat!

Here's another photo just for posterity

Ten days in Tuolumne & the High Sierra backcountry

The day after my birthday I loaded up our Honda with enough food for 5 days of rock climbing in Tuolumne and another 5 days backpacking in the High Sierra. I had spent many days preparing for this trip and I was itching to get on the road. I left Pasadena at 9:45am. The drive into Tuolumne was uneve...

The summit sign must be pretty new (and it looks very nice to boot). Great looking lunch too! 8)

Great TR. That hike is on my to do list. Bet you didn't see very many people on the trail (besides Baldy). Nice photos of the San Antonio Ridgeline too.

Re: Winston Ridge Mystery 1/17/12

I like the idea of approaching from Cooper Canyon - I looked at dropping onto the ridge from Winston Peak and the slog down then up and back didn't appeal (of course it was back in July and pretty hot)..

This anchor looks really sketchy! Yikes. Fun looking trip! I dig the colors (and the lack of bushwacking too)!

Re: Strawberry Peak: 11-27-2011

I took the register on my trip up on November 5th. Someone had failed to put the register back properly (they laid the book on the ground and put the ammo can over the top) and the book was soaking wet and falling apart. I was planning on getting in touch with the Sierra Club and seeing if they kept...

Alder Creek

Big Tujunga area (could get to it from Charlton Flat).

Bummer about the flak on MP although it doesn't surprise me, some climbers should spend more time climbing then writing. Probably just a bunch of crusty old farts

Throop & Baden Powell

I took the short cut to Windy Gap (7,580' aprox) and hiked to Throop, Baden Powell and back. To my right To my left Lots of Rime Ice too! Even down at Windy Gap. I had icicles forming on the brim of my hood and my water froze. The temperatures dropped down into the low teens with wind chill. I wish ...

Re: Some bouldering @ Crystal Lake

My brother and I climbed the cool crack on the other side of the huge boulder and pulled the gnarly  looking roof.

There is another large formation up the road a bit. If you park where the destroyed gate is and walk due east you cannot miss it.

The shooting you heard, could it have been coming from Burro Canyon Shooting Park? (when I did Rattlesnake Peak in early September I heard a lot of shooting - I'm pretty certain it was coming from the shooting park) Or was it because of hunting season? Anyone know what is "in" season right...

Mt. Langley (October 14-16)

So on Friday myself, Chad & Annie drove up to Lone Pine and found a nice spot in the Alabama Hills. The moon was bright and around 3/4 full so we climbed by moonlight on a Jackie's Rack (a fun 5.6 hand crack) while watching the shooting star show (we saw one falling star that left a huge green ...

Whatever you do do not touch it. When I was a kid I was climbing out at Buttermilks and saw a furry red one and tried to pick it up. The most painful sting I've ever experienced. Horrific.
