Re: 2026 Stagecoach 400 Bike Ride

Thank you for taking on this extreme burden. I will do the TDLP one of these years (probably once it’s been cancelled and we have to rope Ian into doing a homies only edition). Perhaps I can make a machine that generates enough gravity in Pasadena to warp space time and go ride the route without ...

Can't say, as I've yet to do the TDLP. Signed up for it this year finally but couldn't get the time off.

20260413 Circle of Doom: Crimbus Edition

Yesterday, I rode the Circle of Doom yet again, somewhat aiming to do it once a month for the year or some sort of thing like that. That sounds like something people do, like those who Everest, where they ride the elevation of Everest in one go (29,035ft or ...

Re: I be riding the Stagecoach 400 event

I wrote up a trip report last week and then my network crapped out and lost the entire goddamn thing, so now, a week or so later, I'll try to regurgitate some memories from the trip.

My overall goal was to enjoy riding in the Anza Borrego area, meet some people and hang out/make friends and all ...

Oh look, the forest circus 'closed' outside again. Outside is closed, guys. Don't go there or you'll get a $5,000 fine and 6 months in jail cause it might be slippery on the hill.

How much more brake cleaner do I need to huff for it to make sense?

I won’t be hauling ass like the pacific coast race a few years back, but if you’d wanna follow along, here be the link to the trackleaders site: https://trackleaders.com/stagecoach26f.php

Here’s a page showing everyone’s bikes for the race:

FWIW I think FF Tokyo Drift was filmed on the San Gabriel Dam, or so I was told. I got to drive on the dam about ten years ago. Can’t remember who told me, might be a buddy of mine who helped provide some of the cars for the film.

Don’t know enough to say anything about the rest of the video ...

That last one is one of two very big washouts. I did not get photos of the second, which is just uphill and around the corner from VG, due to darkness and a very sketchy bypass.

Yeah there was a lot of Russian tagging. Guess they were excited to be there. More trash! Stickers on everything and signs everywhere and shit.

Yup, from the 6,000ft gate east of Newcombs to Vincent Gap. Reckon I’ll ride up 39 again and make a right on the 2. Doubt there will be any snow for much ...

Current state of the bike:

Plans:

-Rear derailleur pulleys are worn out. I can either buy the same dumb cheap ones again (probably), or buy fancier pulleys (usually $80, a lot), OR buy a new derailleur that better fits the purpose of the bike ($2-300, a lot). Just going to buy ...

20260315-16 Transgabriel #??: Baldy via That Way

For this installment of the Transgabriel series, I took the train to Palmdale after work per usual, headed east then south to Big Rock Creek, up to Jackson Flat, then down to Wrightwood where I stayed with a big homie of mine. Next morning, up to Lone Pine Canyon Road, down that to what is it, 3n31 ...

20260309 Circle of Doom

This is much the same as the Spheroid of Discontent (https://eispiraten.com/viewtopic.php?t=9605) ride I did one month ago, without GMR and Wilson. I left home a little before noon and got home around midnight, completing 108 miles with 9,500ft of gain, 22 fewer miles and 3 ...

They’re pretty tall and pointy. You could fall pretty far! Also I think they might have snow and be just as deadly scary dangerous murder death kill as baldy. Nooooo, that’s not possible! Nothing is as dangerous as Baldy! That’s why it’s closed, because it makes sense!

This was a great ride. Hard to believe this much cool stuff packed into something not even 25mi long. The chill climb up to beautiful Chloride City was real easy, then you crest the ridge and the terrain changes to a huge valley with the Sierra in the distance and Telescope Peak right over there ...

Would be a bit of a walk, or an easy ride, Nate.

Hikeup, I plan on seeing how bad the Vincent Gap side of things looks soon. The few washouts on the Three Points side of ACH aren’t too bad. Granted, that probably doesnt mean much, but compared to the pics of the VG side, that’ll be done when we ...

Perpetual Minor Trip Report Thread

I do a lot of rides and stuff where they don't really warrant a full trip report, but I usually have road and trail conditions to share, or just ideas or photos or whatever. I figured I'd start a thread based on this, and maybe if you guys are interested in sharing in the same fashion I will change ...

20260209 Spheroid of Discontent

The name is a play on the Circle of Doom ride, which takes the 39 to the 2 down to La Canada. It's a pretty big road ride for cyclists. I, an uncultured smelly dirtbag who constantly rides bikes and has disagreeable opinions on things, added a couple things on. I ride 39 a few times a month, and I ...

What’s with the term ‘lived experience’? Is there an unlived experience?

Sounds like adding more words to something to sound smart.
