Re: Reno to LA Mtb Trip 2025
On the way up Death Valley road with 14.5 liters of water and a weeks worth of food, I was crawling up as the sun set and it got real dark and had the usual endurance cycling issue of all I can see is the world lit up by my headlight. Sometimes I have trouble keeping positive during this headlight ...

Just got to Bishop. Resupplying, heading south to Big Pine, then going over Death Valley Road to Eureka Dunes and the rest of the Death Valley Dustup route. Hoping to resupply at Panamint Wells or whatever the name is, then over to Stovepipe Wells and Badwater Road to West Side Road down to the ...

Re: Reno to LA Mtb Trip 2025
Got to Reno at noon. The experience with the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority buses has been very nice. I was able to roll my bike into the bus and tie it down inside without disrupting other riders. Super convenient. There is a front rack on the bus as well.

Most of what I want to say was already said by Dima.
I need to add my two cents in here. I also don't really WANT to break laws or whatever, but as time goes on things become more authoritarian and things like closing Baldy because someone died are absurd to me. I know a lot of other people ...

If you think that's bad, you should try the dirt roads I take out of Palmdale. Enormous amounts of trash.

The route should have a cooler name but that’s all I can think of right now.

I would ride with you but I will already be riding, unfortunately not with you (but maybe against you? Bikefights.com). How do you think the section will be after you teleport?

Transgabriel 3ish: Dawson Peak Trail and so on
The Dawson Peak trail goes from the summit of Dawson down into Little Fish Fork camp. I've not been on the trail nor read anything about it, thus it became a thing to check out. There are also lots of old fire roads all over the western slopes of Pine and Dawson that I wanted to check out as well so ...

Very cool. Been wanting to do that for years. The car shuttle thing is a pain. When I eventually do it, there's a route down some slabs from Cathedral towards Tenaya Lake that I plan to take to make things go a bit faster.
Right on.
Right on.

Cool shots of the crags on Eagle Rest Peak. A shame about the poor Samsquanch getting knocked out of his post in the tree by that old flying saucer. Happens to the best of us.

I drink cold coffee sometimes. If I'm at home and I don't need to go anywhere, I'll brew a pot of coffee, let's say 3 cups worth, and ill drink one cup hot. BUT, I'll put two ice cubes in it so I can drink it sooner cause I don't need it to be so goddamn hot that my skin sloughs off the inside of my ...

On my back I'd say maybe 35lbs. The bike without water, food, anything, just the bike itself is 28lbs, so add a little for bags and random bits and tools.

Dawson Peak Trail - Anyone Been There?
So there’s a trail that descends the west side of Dawson towards Fish Fork. I’ve not been on it before. Looks faint on satellite imagery. Have you been there?

Weather was great. Hot in the desert but I’m used to it now so no biggie. Not quite hot but very warm in the mtns. In the 60-70’s at night so you don’t need much to stay warm. I coulda brought less but I’m enjoying the extra comfort of a light jacket. Work hard, rest hard, or something… just be ...

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now. My buddy Mr. Wisner and Chris Brennan both took their bikes down East Fork in the past, and said it wasn't a great idea, or something like that. This is no surprise if you've been further up beyond the narrows, as there's really nothing rideable, so ...
