Mount Pacifico - Dec. 2

Tom and I headed into the San Gabriels today for a quick hike up Mnt. Pacifico. Weather was beautiful, a little frosty be so clean and clear. We hike up via the PCT from Mill Creek and hiked down the road. Had fun at the top climbing the 4th class summit block. There is a video of the summit block a...

Re: Travis' videos: how did he do them?

Ok, I wanna know too! I'm even on one of those videos but I don't remember what he was using. This video of Rodgers is the one time I used my chest mounted pouch to hold my digital camera while recording the video. The pouch was very simple, I found a black, zippered pouch used to stow my cordless ...

Re: Travis' videos: how did he do them?

Most of you have probably seen Travis' videos here: http://www.gpsmountaineering.com/mountaineeringvideos Some of them are pretty harrowing! On all or most of them he seems to have the camera attached to his body or to a helmet, since his hands are obviously free for scrambling. I am thinking of ri...

Anyone know whats up with peak Condor Jr? Its a peak about 500ft lower just south/southwest of Condor. Once I make it out to Condor, I was thinking of going there too, since its nearby. Strangely, I have never seen a picture of Condor Jr from Condor and if there is a firebreak going toward Condor J...

Re: San Jacinto 7 Peak Dayhike

Hey Travis, I just had to smile when I saw our route to Drury on your GPS track. It does look like an interesting route we took. Yep, it was a little "round about" wasn't it:) I should have had the "go to" feature on, I made a wrong assumption that this was not the correct peak ...

I know it is not within the San Gabriels, but the San Jacinto peaks offer many good 3rd class scrabling options, and many have 3rd or even 4th class summit blocks.

San Jacinto 7 Peak Dayhike

We finally got around to completing this 7 peak dayhike Saturday. It was great, perfect weather. We caught the 8 am tram up and 5 pm tram down. The route was pretty close as planned (except for my screw-up on the way to Drury), here is the actual GPS Track. You can download the GPS track and view in...

San Sevaine Road (1N34)

Buck Point and San Sevaine Lookout I am planning on hiking these 2 peaks soon. Anyone know if the road is open to drive to them from the I-15. Anyone aware of alternative (aka more interesting) routes? It looks like it would be a good hike to Buck Point from Icehouse Canyon over Etiwanda Peak. http:...

Goodykoontz Peak 11-18-2007

I was able to get the OK from the family to hike Sunday morning with the condition I was home by noon. I decided to finally hike Pacifico from Alder Saddle off Santa Clara Divide Road, however I found that the gate was closed just after the 2nd camp. Change of plans, I headed to Goodykoontz instead....

Yucaipa Ridge Traverse

We originally planned to hike Olancha ysterday, but since it was a long ways to go with a threat of bad weather, we hiked 6 peaks in the San Bernardino Mountains, the opposite ridge as the 9 Peak Grand Traverse. It was fun, rain threatened but never materialzed. http://www.gpsmountaineering.com/yuca...
