What a day. I generally don't like uphills on the return half of a hike.

I never train for Hike Naked day, I just go out and do it. I send my selfies to all the fellas in the neighborhood. I'm impressed that you know it's coming up!

Re: Kelly overnight

All the traffic in the area definitely led to more trash. When I left on Sunday morning I saw a crew at the bathrooms above the village so I hope they managed to get something done at Icehouse. Nice that the Adventure Pass dollars help to clean up, not so nice that they can't even afford to put a tr...

I got a ULA Circuit, it shaves more than a pound off my load. Been using my Osprey Atmos 50 since 2008, newer fabrics and fewer pockets make a difference. Of course with the changes I have to figure out how to pack things differently, for now I have some lightweight stuff sacks for various tasks. Wa...

Wow, there were a lot of people out on the trails last weekend. I wanted to get away for a night so after clearing my schedule at home I went up to Icehouse Canyon. Despite cloudy skies in the valley, at 3pm on Saturday afternoon I was relegated to the last available parking spot. This was also the ...

Interesting. The security thing is a curious thought. Ive got friends who work with that project. I am not familiar with that site, however. Didnt know there was a lodge. The lodge burned down in the late 80’s. I kind of remember reading the Daily Bulletin about the circumstances being a little sus...

Icehouse project

Saw this in the FS Twitter feed today. Talk about construction of buildings where the old Icehouse lodge ruins are currently located. I once had a beer there while looking out the window over the parking lot. I need to read more, don’t see how it increases security. And what amenities? https://www.f...

Assuming you were standing on the actual highpoint, either the surveyors got it wrong or the highpoint has been bulldozed or ... I don't know. Would you say there was a 0.17-mile stretch of flatness at the top? The south firebreak meets up with the summit area at a low spot "T" intersecti...

After reading all of Taco's reports this week I'm almost embarrassed to say I drove to this trailhead... I've been doing Wilson once a week for the last few weeks, timing myself to the top. Last week there was a lot of snow and ice, so this week I made room for microspikes in my favorite itsy-bitsy fanny pack by substituting a folding silicone cup for my water bottle.
