Icehouse has been overly crowded for years, we’ve had a few discussions about that here.
Register Ridge is definitely the least crowded route from this side, although you do run into plenty if folks from the saddle to the top.

Great trip and some lasting memories there.

Going to Hwy 2 in La Canada is the same traffic (only more of it) that I would face just going to Lake Ave to ascend via Sam Merrill trail. Going via Wrightwood is opposite of the usual traffic flow.
Shouldn't you also include Markham since it's right next to Lowe?

I had the same question about water.... What were the temperatures? Seems this time of year the lower elevations would be nearing triple digits.
