With the big dump of snow last week I definitely wanted to avoid the crowds up near Baldy, plus with so much so fast it's also kind of dangerous and stuff like that makes me less popular at home. So I cast about for a nice front range destination and settled on a couple of unnamed peaks, 2760 and 33...

I looked at the DPW site today and it says the road is closed at Red Box. I think that means plenty of snow on that side of the hill.
I was hoping to hike San Gabriel on NYD, now I need a different plan. Anyone want to head out then?

I'm also surprised you saw one this late. I've been walking around thinking I don't have to worry about them at this time of the year.

Same picture a week later.... I went up there today for my #OptOutside thing.
I was surprised to see snow up there, the elevation is listed at 3422 feet. I heard from some people that Baldy Road was closed at the Village.

Next time I go up there I'm bringing the stove!

The city has done a lot of work with the stadiums there. I think the view from PNC out across the river is one of the best.

I bet the view was great from up there. I was in a big hurry when I stopped by there and my gps was out of signal while on the way to Spruce Knob.

That was a nice day - it was pouring rain when I was there in July. Bonus to see the trees turning colors like that.

What was the float time and distance? That water doesn’t look like it’s moving very fast.

Mosquitos this year were bad because of so much water due to the heavy snow. Most years they are gone by late August. I've gone up there backpacking in September and not seen any mosquitos.

And I didn't know about the featured image, that's pretty cool. Generally when I compose this stuff it's on the desktop, also that way for most of my viewing.
