Re: It's lottery time!

We (8) are backpacking from Horsewhoe meadows and out at the portal July 13-16, we are sumitting on the last day. Good luck to everyone. Oh and this is a great practice hike for C2C.

Re: A Little Hiker's Trip to Crystal Lake

I road my bike up there on Sunday too? I probaly saw you at some point. We headed down too about the same time the fog broke. Beautiful place, never been there before, kind of feels like the baldy bowl with a campground.

We went up winter creek on Sunday. Only ran into 3 people on top. two ladies went up the other way (santa Anita?) and said it was not trecommnded. They went down with us on teh other side. It was much colder and socked in with clouds compared yto your trip.

Re: Wilderness Crest Trail (Cucamonga Peak)

I think the gate opens up some time in spring or summer. The ranger station in lytle creek may know.

I thought you wanted to hike up it (driving is deffinitly not doable), you could probely do it in a long day.

Re: Summiting with out your packs

I have one other question about Whitney. They have a Wagbag that you have to take your human waste out of the area in. Is this just for Whitney Trail specific or any of the sourounding areas. Leaving at Horseshoe Meadows / Cottenwood Lakes do we need to pack a wagbag?
thanks

Summiting with out your packs

So some freinds of mine are going to do Whitney this year from Cottenwood Lakes / Horseshow Meadows. I am sure this happens everywhere but we were wondering if it is OK /safe to summit Whitney but leave our backpacks at the junction. Anyone have any experiance doing this on any other peak? Anyone el...
