That "toad" is actually the Coast Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma blainvillii) It's nice to see them in the fire zone!

Gonna hit up lake-echo-lowe-disappointment-san gabriel peak-mueller tunnel this wednesday. totally mileage is >20 miles yet we wont be flying at too much of a clip. anyone in?

Got out to Timber via Icehouse today with my friend Tony. The ice at the top of Timber is pretty beautiful right now. Conditions were cold (low 30's) and light snow with a bit of wind. Rain showers below about 6000' or so. Lots of corn snow, hardly anyone on the trails, snow didn't affect trail real...

jim, that pic shows the remains of the old dawn mine shelter on the lowe fire road. i thought i had pics of it while it was standing but im failing to find them now.

got up to muir and easter rock (weird name!) today via the fire road. conditions were great and ANF has some cool yellow signs all over the place now. saw like 4 people the whole time. got cold, it as in the 40's at the top. Came down in the dark. Made really really really good time for me, hit Echo...

headed out to the wilderness campsite via west fork thursday. we bushwacked a lot of it and had quite a bit of fun. here's some pics and a TR, as promised in another thread on here.

i was up at bear creek yesterday...took west fork up to the wilderness camp site and that was all open and ladden with poison oak. ill put up at tr tomorrow.
