Yes there was a tribe up RR before you...even I couldn't see the tracks, the ice was so hard, most of us just had on microspikes.
I brought up the rear and took this shot, if you look closely you can see the nice BBC peeps waiting at the base of Baldy for me..and a few others scattered near or at ...
What what? Ski hut, you ask? To find out, a simple task.
ok enuf of that. The BBC contingent was up there on Sunday. The trail was mostly dry or slush and then above the hut was fresh dusting of snow. My friend's teenage son made his first Baldy summit via the west bowl, up and down, wearing instep ...
Nice pics! Too bad the wind wasn't blowing 11mph with a wind chill factor of 11 degrees, and you stayed up there 11 minutes. that sounds familiar. My REI e-vent jacket was put to the test and I have to say that I would rather carry my Mountain Hardware sub zero jacket than 3 liters of ice ...

The peeps going on that are all animals!! They're always doing Skyline and many other crazy things that keep them in shape. I had to back out because I know I can't keep up w/them. :? Wish I could go but I will go with Norma when we can spend the night on the other side and take 2 days or so to do ...
Very nice pix. I guess the cloud cover / hail helped keep the wind at bay? You're right, very strange....we had horrible winds when we tried it this year and got turned back because of the storm
Also of note, "The Heart" still looks to be under snow in your photos...
Awesome job Norma, Dave and Phil! Love the photos! This is not something I would want to do alone..but hard to fit into my schedule let alone find someone whom you can trust and get along with to undertake the effort.
Beautiful pix, so much runoff! I would take that route over half dome any day...(as long as the skeeters aren't having a convention at Sunrise)
Thanks for sharing!
