11 peaks and 15 hours - Congrats Rick! I don't know why Harwood was so windy and not most of the other peaks, but it was windy for us as well. We only did 3 peaks - that can be officially classified as nothing special. :)

Re: Big Baldy Loop - 5.7.11

It's been a long time since I've posted a trip report, :( I started at Icehouse parking lot and walked down to the village and up the Bear Canyon trail, then down the Devil's backbone, across the Three T's and down Icehouse Canyon. HEY THAT'S A GREAT IDEA, I NEVER THOUGHT OF DOING IT THAT WAY! :D :...

Re: BackPacking with a dog

Yes they are two different anti-venoms so I assume 2 different vaccines. The Mojave venom attacks the nervous system and the Pacific venom attacks the cardiac system. Most vets will not administer the Mojave venom if your dog gets bit UNLESS you have the snake w/you that bit said dog. It's expensive...

Nice post and pix! So, did you have your dogs vaccinated for both the Mojave and the Pacific rattlesnake? May I ask where and how much? I'm really concerned Talus will get bit since she is a hunting breed.

Thank you!

Re: BackPacking with a dog

Ah, my new favorite subject! I have a 9 month old weimeriner, Talus. She made her 3rd Baldy summit last Sunday, and I feel bad that I didn't have her wind jacket on. With regards to booties, I've been told by a very knowledgeable source that the booties are needed in summer when the granite dust can...

In the OC!!! I swear that he was the hairy bearded dude in the vintage MBZ that cut me off this AM whilst I was trying to merge onto the 405 Northbound at Alicia Pkwy. I kept staring in my rear view at him and some older, hairy bearded dude. (no offense, Taco - but there aren't too many red-bearded ...

LOL Ryan! I have a winch...its the broken axles, bead locks and wheel issues that I worry about :? Wheeling alone isn't smart, but Anza Borrego isn't too difficult. I can probably get a few Jeepers to go. I will send you a PM with more details.... I've been wanting to go there before it gets too hot...
