Re: Whitewater to Dragonhead.

Parts are. Was thinking of either Banning canyon to Gunsight Pass, then over to East fork and up past Silverwood falls. Just don't know anyone who has been through there. Or making the longer trek from Whitewater.

Re: Jepson Peak by way of "Snaggle-Tooth" Couloir

Nice work JJpicts and company, very nice photos, those sunset shots were fantastic, we saw that same color on the drive home - was explaining to the other guys that with a tripod and slow shutter speed on the camera you can make that kind of sunset look surreal. Quick question, did you go up the bi...

I'll be going up the N. chute of San G. on Sat. I'll dig a little in those and let you know how consolidated they are.

Great TR. Holiday traffic is the worst. That helmet comes in Red or white. Red one is cheaper. I'm think that anything I'm using on the mountain I want to stand out since it might just be attached to me when SARS is looking for it.

Re: Baldy Ski Hut - 12/31/2010

Well here's my two cents. It all really depends on conditions. If the snow is getting soft /wet then it's going to ball up under your micro-spikes and you'll be walking on snowballs. But if you have powder and Ice mixed in with rock then the little guys would do. Before Christmas a friend had to res...

South Fork To South Fork Meadows 12-30-10

Snowshoe trip up to South fork Meadows yesterday 6 to 10 inches of new powder covering the trail was 19° at 8:30 when we started and got up to about 25° so the powder was perfect all day. Could see that it was blowing on the summits but down low it was just a slight breeze. Really fun going through ...

Baldy on Tuesday 12-28

Took a chance that the road was open and headed up to Manker Flats. Lots of construction equipment moving earth but no problem parking. The Ranger driving by just mentioned to be careful. Went up to the Ski hut and then the summit from the bowl. Little rime ice falling off the rocks into the bowl bu...

Yes went up Harwood ridge on Sat. and the ice snow and wind were nothing compared to the traffic from OC 3 different accidents with cars flipped. Felt glad to get on the trail.

Re: 20100626 Cirque & Langely

Lilbitmo,
Cottonwood pass is the way we went up Sat. We just traversed the ridge in the morning headed to Langley (you guys interrupted a roving snowball fight when we met on the way down). We hit Cirque on the way back. My GPS said about 25 miles and 6000 gain that way.
