Re: Chukars and Bambie
O helll yea..."intense and often unrequited, love" . Hanging out above 4000' - sounds familiar. The Chukar is the National bird of Pakistan. In Punjab, the Chukar has been considered as a symbol of intense, and often unrequited, love. It was considered to be enamoured by the moon and said ...

I say we trade two McCourts for the Chukars and start all over again at Chavez.

- just a basic sack with the Element fabric - the same fabric I think they use for the Taku Jacket/Pants, . Thanks. That sounds like the REI 'Minimalist' with the Element fabric. Low price, mixed reviews. Poncho or tarp might be the thing to use with that bivy, just in case your number comes up on ...

Refsnider moved into 1st sometime last nite/this a.m. http://trackleaders.com/tourdividei.php ... _Refsnider Race is kinda hard to handicap with all the snow this year and some riders opting for the south-north route. Re: BALDY - Archive of Mt. Baldy-related Discussions
Well, Country Girl and I had a fun time on our first nite out on Baldy. We left at 2PM on Saturday, bailed the packs (too heavy for us) at the Hut and hit the summit around 6PM. We then beat it back down just at sunset, threw the tent up next to the Hut and had a really nice nite. Hike down on Sunda...

A few hours mountain climbing turns a rogue and a saint into two roughly equal creatures. Weariness is the shortest path to equality and fraternity—and liberty is finally added by sleep. —Nietzsche

Nice light (20#) bike makes for a pretty tight rig - 33# all-up is a sweet number for that long a haul.

Sunset & Thunder
Fearless Flyer and I busted out a couple of good climbs Sunday. We ended up with about 35 miles and 6000' climbing. We were riding light & at a good clip, so not much in the way of pics. FF is an ace DH'er and blew me away on some the descents - particularly the rock garden that is the Sunset Pe...

Taco: I got a 26" H/T that I could bring. I'm trolling for riding posse since I promised Mom I wont hit up Stockton Flats solo no more. It's standard issue: spring suspension, triple w. grip shifters and mediocre (but working) V-brakes. It works. I've done this ride number times w. this bike. h...

MTB: XC Training Ride: Sunday 5 June
Village - Sunset Peak - Village - Thunder - Stockton Flats...and thereabouts.
Steady pace. 8-10K climbing depending on conditions ( haven't been off backside down to Stockton this season - not sure what road looks like yet)
H/T will do, better with a F/S. Riding light, no gear.
