What time of year were you in there? may & september How was the water situation? water in the creek and a spring at sheep camp. no water past sheep unless there's imported water at the campsites down from the top of pinos - we didn't see any on top - it's a big mound vs a pointy peak - we just...

the well marked north fork (of lockwood creek) trail fits your requirements. would be a drive and a very long day from the greater los angeles area. begins up a dirt road past three falls boy scout camp in lockwood valley. ascends to the ridge that is sawmill mountain - the highest point in kern cou...

My expert diagnosis sez there is a second fracture on the 5th Proximal Phalange 'second' fracture? could that possibly be 'spiral' fracture? Whether it's an old fracture or from this misadventure I'm sure I'll find out on Monday, it's gotta be old... Know I never went to the doc for it... it's new.

You haven't lived until you are no longer the top of the food chain. and even though the numbers of predators are low and the chance of an encounter with a predator is low, and the odds of a fatal event is very, very low, when we go out in the woods we are no longer the top of the food chain. keeps...

awesome! i've wanted to do this trail for a few years, but never got around to it since the fire and ranger's telling me it wasn't open / wasn't worth it. it's definitely open and quite scenic. so, with the closed gates, is it (2.3 + 47) = 7 miles one way? The route to Hines Peak that interests me the most is via Santa Paula Canyon. The Tom Harrison map shows the Last Chance Trail going through to the ridge, but when I visited it a year or two ago the trail appeared to vanish after Jackson Hole, leading to a potentially severe bushwhack.
