Re: Ontario Peak, NW drainage access?

The drainage immediately northwest of the summit of Ontario Peak. From the map, there is only one (at least as I see it). Does that help?

Ontario Peak, NW drainage access?

Does anyone know how to access the drainage northwest of the summit of Ontario Peak? And does it have a name? It is the drainage directly west of Cherry Canyon. I understand that the Chapman Ranch at its base is a major obstacle.

Here is a link to a map.

Re: Gear recommendations for Fir Draw maybe(new guy)

Well, depending on what you want to do, you might only need crampons and an ice axe. SummitPost has route descriptions for Sugarloaf Ridge and Falling Fir Ridge on Ontario Peak. They are both nice routes.

I think that REI rents crampons, ice axes, etc.

Thanks for the pics. I am surprised how little snow there was, but that is changing. That couloir right of Register Ridge could be a nice alternative some day.

More snow is in the forecast for Saturday, February 27. What do you suppose the conditions will be on the Mt. Baldy road at dawn on Sunday morning?

The Galena Gauntlet

On February 15, three of us climbed "The Galena Gauntlet" to Yucaipa Ridge and then traversed to Galena Peak. Here is the trip report.

Does anyone know if this route has been climbed before?

Re: "Falling Fir Ridge" 2-7-10

Sam, that's the official name now, FWIW. There are lots of un-named features in the SG's, just gotta name 'em after you get to know them. Have you made a page for it on Summitpost? I have thought about making a page for "Falling Fir Ridge" on Summitpost, but haven't yet. Should I do it so...

Nice pictures, Norma. And I see that you have a mild obsession with naming a route with the the word "cwm" in it.
