merrells are the best thing i have done for my feet. other than hiking socks!
My last pair of chameleons took me hiking every weekend for the last 2 years till i killed them at charleston. I got a new pair of the same shoe it now has better tread/grip and gore-tex.

I think the shoes might be the problem. @ charleston i Came down slower than usual. My knee didnt burn up as usual. but i felt it the day after. I think i have hiked my shoes to death and the tread and arch support is done! and the weight of a pack aint being supported n e more! got a new pair of me...

Cutting switchbacks often leads to erosion. Not to mention all sorts of ugly individual trail segments. It is not the worst thing a hiker can do, but it is harmful and easily avoided. Yeah it was 108 at the strip. Low 80's at the trailhead and 60-70 @ the summit. I was gonna do the loop but you neeed a shuttle car. Its more than a mile! Next time i want to camp at Charleston Saddle and Roundtrip the Mummy MT

I`ve recently been getting knee pain outer-lower knee when descending. I do alot of hikes with 4-5k feet elev gain. 10+ miles and in hte middle of the hike or towards the end it comes. there is a sign on the trail to islip Mt saying Crystal Lake Rec area Closed.
Is no hiker allowed to go? I have seen bikers cruising down that old road before.
