Re: Little Fish Fork Overnighter, 7/2 - 7/3/2009
I had a friend do this last year. It is one serious route. He did it in 2 days, rappelling down multiple falls. He said the biggest was about 100'. I don't know if that true. Only one way to find out.

Re: Mill Creek Jumpoff to Vivian Creek Trail, 11-Jun-2010
That map shows a trail to San G summit via East Fork Cabin/Middle Fork Jumpoff. Its not on my Tom Harrison map from 2000. Does that trail still exist?Tim wrote:LB: Here's RF: http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=34.04601,-11 ... ntain%20CA

Re: Langley Peak 8-1
I did Langley last year as a stop on a backcountry Whitney trip. My first 14er also. We camped at Cottonwood Lake 3 and summited Langley the next morning via Old Army Pass. We did not see one person. Beautiful views of Whitney from the summit.
Great picts! Now I want to go back.

Re: Upper Fish Fork Camp 7/25/09
I camped down just past Upper Fish Fork camp last weekend with a friend. We saw two black bears (although they were more of a cinnamon color) in the creek (maybe 50 yards away) between Little and Upper Fish Fork on our way out. They watched us for a about 5 minutes and then took off down the canyon....

Anyone know if water is available at any Middle Fork Trail camps? Also, does anyone know trail and snow conditions from Icehouse Saddle to Ontario and Cucamonga Peaks. Crampons?

I've done Echo Mountain and Sam Merrill/Castle Canyon trail to Inspiration Point. This is a unique area with a lot of history (Mt. Lowe Railway). Everyone should do this at least once. Nice pics.

I agree that the elevation gain/loss seems a little sketchy, but that is some killer mileage for one day! 8)

Re: Mt. Wilson TR 2/24/09
Hey Liz. I did this hike on 3/1/09 after reading your report. Nice day but a little hot where the trail is exposed. I think it was pushing 90 in the valley. I descended via the Sturtevant trail through Hoeges. This hike totaled 14 miles round trip. I'm a little sore. BTW I took my Backpacker Gear Gu...

Re: Baldy Bowl and Ski Hut Trail
I always pack my usual snow gear (crampons, axe, etc.), but does anyone know if the snow pack for the Ski Hut Trail makes snowshoes necessary?
