Re: Angeles Crest Highway (CA-2)
I ran up to the Idlehour station to see the first runners go by around 9-10 PM. Last year the station peeps sighted a bear about 20 yards away next to the campground. The funniest thing happened about 9:30 PM. A few kids hiked almost to Mt. Wilson, and turned around. They weren't sure about the rou...

Dang Taco - that's some harrowing shit !! Forgive if I'm way off, but your report seems relatively calm compared to those pictures you posted. I know you're a million times tougher than I never will be but you also seem a lot more, let's say, less dramatic too... Sure there wasn't more you could hav...

Tim, Thanks for nailing it shut. Now we have to wonder again if drugs played a role. Theres simply no way he or she logically thought this was feasible....being that from their viewpoint it was obvious to anyone they were on a path of death. Yes,,,, thanks Tim for sorting that out... Aside from wak...

Re: calling cougarmagic - got any 'wild' guesses ???
Yeah, there really is no reason for that. As if a major media outlet, in Los Angeles (entertainment capitol of the world) couldn't figure out any way to show the original video file other than to point an iphone camera at a computer screen and record it that way?? It's more interesting when it's bl...

Re: Lost Hiker-Los Padres Tar Creek
Drugs and the forest don't mix. A really bad trip. Can't argue with that one - especially when it comes to alcohol. Luckily when we were younger and dumber, our 'parties' escaped relatively unharmed. As much as I dread rattlesnakes - what inspired us to chase one around our Chilao Flats campground ...

'Hikers' like this is why that stretch could be renamed 'Eat It Canyon'... So where she fell ---- is that on the north side of the 'razorback' ? I guess even if you COULD post this video at the base of the 'razorback' many 'hikers' would say "seeee, she didn't die, she's OK, what's the problem ...

Yeah - and from what some buddies have told me - those pesky rattlers don't always scram when they supposedly 'feel our vibes' heading their way. What's up with that ? Maybe they're just tired of too many people on their turf and it's their way of weeding out some of us weak heart hikers  :win...

Cool TR, Sean... well, cool probably isn't the best description.... The photo that tripped me out pretty good was this one. Them dang rattlesnakes always look so mean  ... they scare me enough just knowing what the are capable of doing - but to thrown in that scary look is just down right evil  Seriously though I wish the thought of walking into, or make that 'near', a rattler didn't freak me out to the ex...

I have been thru most of the San Gabs and that lake isnt there. It looks an awful lot like Hamilton Lakes near Bear paw meadows in the Sequoias. Augie, I think your son not only has talent at saying a lot in a realtively small amount of written space but he also is very good at conveying 'time and place' in his San Gabriel mountain's articles. I totally got caught up conjuring what Chilao pre Angeles Crest Highway mighta been like and how sa...
