Re: The Station Fire Thread

No word on Newcombs Ranch but there are reports it burnt as well. Any updates on Newcomb's? Not sure if this is the time or place for this [again] - but going back to the thread when the Station fire started - according to the LA Times link, between the hours of 4:30 - 6:30, the fire had only grown...

Re: The Station Fire Thread

A little bit ago, ktla showed some rather large flames and said they were to the east of Mt. Wilson. Then they said something about a cafe that burned and all that was left was a phone booth... the shot they showed of the phone booth was not enough for me to figure out where it was... Like with many...

Re: The Station Fire Thread

Its all toast! how did the fire get so uot of control. I have seen better fire combat for the other fires in the past year. when it was just a small blaze east of lukens. They should have had it out in a day I couldn't disagree There needs to be an investigation as to why this happened, they ...

Re: The Station Fire Thread

Oh, now that I look a bit closer at the map provided by mattmaxon, looks like most of Mt. Lowe Railway area has been burned to some degree. Is it safe to say that those areas shaded in the orangish/peachish color are areas that have already burned? And if so, is it also safe to assume that burned me...

And so goes the pavilion at Inspiration Point, which the Mt Lowe volunteers worked so hard to rebuild, and make historically accurate: http://www.mtlowe.net/pavillion.htm Cougarmagic, is that [reasonable] speculation or have you heard that the pavilion has or is burning? Just read this from the SG ...

Just got these two sentences inna email blast, the first one about 5:15, the second one, about 15 minutes later: "As of now, there are visible flames on the front side of Sunset Ridge, NNW of Echo." "Bad news. The Cape is burning." --- That being 'The Cape of Good Hope' from the ...

Outta curiosity - and ignorance - but why do they say the fire is only 10% contained at this point [9am Wednesday] - to the average Joe like myself, it looks much more in control than that [going by tv/mt wilson cam sightings]...

Thanks Dirt Pour, be cool see a pic... Only going on hearsay, well, and a few photos, it sounds like the FS probably leveled a few cabins in their times [1950's & 60's especially so I've been told] Some cabins were hardly hidden, a few even sitting right there on the front face ranges of the SGm...

The mentioned some thing about old wooden cabins Always loved the idea of running into cabins but never really found/saw any - is that because the forest service leveled so many of them - or me not looking in the right spots?
