I was sad to read yesterday, that Jerry Schad passed away on Thursday. He inspired so many of us to get outside and explore.

Re: Lost & Found
Hi!
Please let me know if you lost a camera on Big Iron on Saturday, May 22. If so, please tell me some details about it. My group found it and we have it!
Cheers!

Re: Iron Mountain info please
I was going to do San G's South Fork this Sat, but it looks like it will be a cold weekend up there which means icy snow. I may enjoy the cooler weather and do Big Iron for my second time ever. Does anyone know if there are any closures in that area? Anything I should know? I'm a bit out of the loop.

South Fork Saturday!
Looks like I'm heading up San Gorgonio's Sout Fork Trail as far as my group can go this Saturday. Maybe I'll see some familiar faces on the trail? Haven't been in the San G wilderness since late fall!

Sam Merrill Trail (Echo Mountain)
I have been living in San Diego for about 4 months, so I'm out of touch! Are the trails from Lake Avenue in the Pasadena area closed? Was the fire there? So now mudslides?
Thanks!

Thanks!

Re: Mt. Wilson Trail 1-16-10
Hi Alan K! It was nice to finally meet you! Also, it was great to be back in my old "stomping grounds." Since moving to San Diego, I've been doing different hikes, especially x country in the desert this winter. I'll admit, x country is MUCH harder than trail hiking, and I've gotten strong...

The Sturtevant trail (upper switchbacks) can get very icy! I used crampons on that trail last December.

Re: SNOW - Questions, Forecasts & Reports About Snow
Yes, that's the plan. We'll be prepared for snow and some ice. I've done the trail a couple of days after a storm before. Anyway, we're going up from Sierra Madre to the bench, then to Zion, up I think Winter Creek Trail to the summit then down the main Wilson Trail and then back via Sierra Madre. A...

My boyfriend and I are doing Vivian Creek on Saturday. I have room on the permit, as we thought we could get peeps to join us, but so far it's just us two. So we're thinking hike then dinner and beer at the little Mexican restaurant in Forest Falls. Anyone interested in joining? You have to be a mod...

Well, we're carrying plenty of water and a little extra to cache. We plan on doing Villager/Rabbit soon and will be happy to have our cache. I am a recent translplant from OC to San Diego. Apparently, Borrego is where SD hikers play during the winter.

High Sierra Trail
I just got back from the High Sierra Trail (Crescent Meadow-Whitney Portal.) Since I've done the entire JMT, I may have a slightly skewed perspective...but I thought this trail was easy and not terribly scenic. Don't get me wrong, there were some lovely spots, but my jaw never hit the ground the way...

Advice on Telescope Peak
A few friends and I are planning on bagging Telescope Peak in Death Valley. I plan on starting at Shorty's Well, and finishing at a pre set car shuttle at Mohogany Flat. My question is: Anyone who has done this, or is familiar with DVNP, do you recommend we camp at Furnace Creek? Or is there a bette...

This will be my third birthday, in a row, standing atop a peak. Two years ago I celebrated 30 atop Mt. Whitney, upon completing the entire John Muir Trail.

Hello to all my hiking friends! I'll be on the San Gorgonio summit, celebrating my birthday this Saturday! I'm coming up Momyer with a friend, so not sure what time we'll be there. But I hope to trade smiles and hellos with as many of you as possible! Cheers!

Where is Rabbit Peak, anyway? And, I do go more slowly when hiking with a buddy. I'm never SLOW but when I'm being social, I'm not racing uphill.

Re: Mt. Whitney 8/18/09
Ha ha!
I've been on Whitney 4 times, and hiked the whole JMT. I've seen my share of marmots, yet I cannot resist snapping a pic of them! I think they are so darn cute...well, of course until they are chewing on your pack, right? LOL
