Azusa - Ranch 99 Market to close

I went for a hike on the EFSG this past Sunday, and as usual, I stopped at the market at SW corner of Azusa (Hwy 39) and 9th St (I believe). I've been stopping at this market for the past 25 years or so, to buy last minute goodies before heading up into the hills. I guess it's become more of a nasta...

Re: 12/18 Dreaming . . . . . . .

Well, I do sort of feel a sore throat coming on. I guess I should stay home from work tomorrow. And since I'm home, with nothing better to do, I guess I can head for the hills.

Yeap! I think that works.

12/18 Dreaming . . . . . . .

I'm sitting here in my (second) office in Corona, 3rd floor, with direct view of Baldy. My blinds are open, and I'm finding myself looking more at the mountains than working. I'm dreaming, no, wishing, I was up there right now, plodding through virgin snow to a destination unknown. Maybe packing som...

Re: SGMDF Official Winter Party Thing

Good catch. 27th is probably too close to X-Mas. Maybe instead of trying to see who is up for it that close to Christmas, plan for Jan 3rd, bearing adverse weather of course.

Re: SGMDF Official Winter Party Thing

Next week sounds good. Can you choose specific day so I can ink it in my calendar? Now, I might have enough time to order some new mountaineering boots. My Sportiva Glaciers are half size too big even with heavy socks. I need to find the "FOR SALE" forum get rid of these things. Used only ...

Re: SGMDF Official Winter Party Thing

I might have one seat open in my car. I plan on doing this when the roads are safe for all cars to go on. I don't have a vehicle fit for safe travel on really icy/snowy roads anymore. I cook rice for sushi sometimes. I've got a Japanese store near my place. Kinda a Japanese-o-holic myself. I'...

Re: SGMDF Official Winter Party Thing

Gonna be fun with the rice! Dunno how much to bring... might cook/steam it down hear and reheat it up there if it doesn't ruin it. Most sushi rice is precooked and served at room temp anyways. Sometimes even on the colder side. I would suggest cooking at home, placing all cooked rice in aluminum fo...

Re: SGMDF Official Winter Party Thing

:)Sounds like an idea. Do you mind if they're inflatable? I'm tight on cash, so I will only be bringing enough for myself plus a little bit extra. This is all really just supposed to be a fun social gathering, relaxing, up on top of Baldy in the snow during clear weather. If you focus on co...

Re: SGMDF Official Winter Party Thing

Sushi on Baldy??? After a major snow storm??? Heck Yeah - count me in. :D I'm new to this board, but would love to meet some of the players here. A group sushi party on Baldy sounds crazy, which is right up my alley. As long as it is not this Sunday, I'm definately in. Taco - if you can somehow get ...

INTROS - New members, introduce yourself here!

Hey everybody. I just thought I'd introduce myself here. I'm new to this forum, although not new to these discussion forums. I'm on a couple fishing related forums. I'm a pretty avid hiker, climber, and a little bit of a noob mountaineer. I'm 39, and have been hiking in the San Gabriels since I was ...
