Re: Mt. Morrison 5-23-09
Dave - nice pics. That area is so beautiful. And thanks for the new word "graupel" or rather "graupel snow". I never heard that before. Did you need crampons at all? The snow cover looks minimal and manageable, but I'm jsut curious. I'll be climbing nearby next weekend and if all...

Sounds ike good times. I saw a rattler two weeks ago. It was coiled up so I'm not sure of the length, but y guess would be close to 4 feet. I think it was thicker then both my trekking poles combined.

Hey Norma R. Nice pics. Looks like you two had a really fun day. I heard your Shasta trip is off. Bummer. I was supposed to go back on the 21st, but that one fell apart too. I'm bummed, but have a couple other trips in mind now. I'll PM you some invites.

2 weeks in a row? crazy! that's the sort of thing that will temporarily burn you out from hiking! matt, I have coordinates from when i did it last fall: http://socalhikes.com/2008/10/cactus-to ... ip-report/ Yeah - it burned me out, but luckily not from hiking, just Skyline for sure. Wasn't really ...

Hey Zach, The Denver area has some really nice loop hikes real close to the city, but they are mostly under 11 miles. Not sure how close you can stay to Denver while trying to find solitude for 4-5 days. Just north of Denver in Rocky Mountain NP, you definately need to do Long's Peak via the Keyhole...

Wow EnFuego, You refused to do this hike with me, and now you've done it back to back weekends. I must really intimidate you. Well, maybe just for the H&LL of it, I'll do it this weekend and next weekend until I see you on it. I doubt it though. I'll be in the Sierras on the 30th. And ye...

San Jacinto - 2 Weekends in a Row "ENUFFFFF!!!!!"
I'm rolling two trips into one report: Last week on Friday (5-15-09), I hooked up with a friend to do the C2C trail. I wasn't exactly excited to do it, but was looking forward to seeing just how challenging it was. We started at the museum at 4:15am and a third person I had met in the parking lot ha...

I picked up a Mountain Hardwear Sprite 1 ultralight solo tent, and now i'm thinking I was a bit to quick in buying it. I just locked down 2 trips in which I need another peice of gear more urgently. Asking $120, but may be able to work with that. Shoot me a PM if interested. This tent has never been...

haha. Thats pretty funny that you caught Ze. Makes me think of a pretty funny idea. Maybe you can hide one of your cameras on a well traveled trail and see how many SGMDF'rs you can catch on trail?

Pretty nice photos. I haven't explored the GC much, but it looks like a pretty exceptional place.
You're ready to do the rim2rim2rim now. In fact, you can prolly add an extra rim in there too. Don't wait till spring. Do it in October. Do the c2c now too.
Nice photos by the way.
