Re: Hikers allowed guns on Mt Rainier

When crooks know regular people can and are armed they'll have less incentive to take advantage of you even if you choose not to carry. you can't be serious, or? Actually, yes. It's a simple odds game. In areas where more people have CCW's; crime goes down. Crooks know that their odds are getting w...

Re: Overlay topo maps in Google Earth

I thought this was really cool when I found it, so I wrote something up on how to overlay and use topo maps in Google Earth. Someone even made a way to overlay historical maps!!! Thanks Joe, it's a fantastic tool and I am sure I will play around and use it from now on... I am afraid I can't get muc...

Re: Cucamonga Peak from the South???

Not sure where to post this. . . But does anyone have information on climbing the south facing ridges of Cucamonga Peak? Something like this. . .maybe starting at the top of Haven Avenue: I drove up Haven today and it looks like you can get onto one of the ridges pretty easily and I did some intern...

Re: Boney Mtn 2010/02/07

Same for me. I literally crawled through it as a wee lad in the hills of Chino and Diamond Bar. Got a bad case once or twice, now I get a few bumps on my hand and it's gone in a day, even if my entire goddamn body comes in contact with it. Something to do with the oil? at least from what I know tha...

Re: Boney Mtn 2010/02/07

I love Boney Mtn via the Boy Scout Trail! I seem to remember some discussion about there being a Boney Mtn and a Boney Peak? :?: The caves at Tri-Peaks are pretty cool, too. 8) I think some people refer to the whole plateau area as "Boney Mountain" with Boney Peak as one outcropping (east...

Re: PHOTOS - Post or link to pictures!

Obvioulsy this isn't the local mountains, and its not a picture of me, but a friend of mine found this and neither of us know where it is but I thought it was cool enough to share. Crazy exposure it seems. Enjoy. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/699241/Mountain Climbe...

I hope you will get well soon. I am glad that nothing is broken; certainly was nasty looking. I am surprised that you still thought of taking pictures though. That's the right spirit. I like the one where you were standing at the ambulance with your thumbs up... way to go Ryan. I hope you'll be out ...

Re: Josephine, Strawberry, & Lawlor Loop

Hi Joe, seems like we meet at all the various forums recently. Unfortunately I am out of town this weekend so I can't go on that trip. But I would suggest to go down the south ridge of Lawlor. It's short and certainly doable (based on a hike I did about a year ago) and saves you a couple of miles. B...
