there is a Sharkey's on the SW corner of Westlake Boulevard and Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Westlake Village, but you probably headed east from Malibu Creek and went to the one on Reseda Boulevard just south of the 101 freeway.

Nice hike Zé! i've been wanting to do Alta and always figurered i would do it in spring when there is still snow, but i liked the way it looked in summer. gotta give it a try. thanks for the info on Panther Peak and Tharps Rock too. i love an added bonus and Tharps looks like a fun little challenge....
