Question: When you guys glissade, do you ever stress on messing up the butt of your pants? I'm using the REI Taku pants right now, and they aren't thin, but they aren't thick either. Despite the bad Juju that hiked with us today, we sure had a “Fun Day” on the bowl. Tracie, I think it's more I have a hard head than a high pain threshold. :wink: I've got one heck of a bruise on my left shin. It probably came from the rock's above since the trees above the chutes didn't look ready...

the one time you don't wear trail runners Phil and you have to "hoof it." figures! :P nice holiday de-stresser hike. there is something magical about having a forrest of freshly fallen snow (nearly) to yourself. nice clear shots of Catalina and I-15. love the views right after a storm!

sorry to see the damage from the dang Pineapple Express, but grateful to see the coverage once the temps dropped a bit. hoping this is only a base for our winter and the storms continue to roll in regularly now. the IHC creek looks more like the Merced River. thanks for the photos DG!

I love breaking trail out there on the SF. Glad you had a great time. What a dump! I figured the snow would be heavy since it wasn't the coldest of storms. Burns those quads to break trail in heavy snow. Good work!

looks like we'll be doing some major snow climbs... Village to Baldy, IHC to Baldy, Iron to Baldy. where there's a Will there's a Way! our quads will be in good shape, that's for sure!

Glad you went anyways Mitch! it's a beautiful canyon isn't it? i was fascinated by the history of the canyon and the cabins. i found it a precious hidden jewel a stone's throw from L.A.

leeza, from my experience, San Jacinto from the tram does not have any slopes that tend to slide. plus there are lots of trees which also reduce the threat of slides. care to respond Hikin Jim? snowshoes might finally be necessary. check the San J Board for TR's from those who go up on Thurs and Fri...
