Re: Summer Backpack Plans

On a related note... 2 years ago I was going to do a loop around the Kaweah's (see the book Trekking California for details). I had family coming into town so I didn't want to chance it. I went to the Kern River and back, I still wish I went all the way around, but I may have been a day late and did...

Re: Summer Backpack Plans

Death Valley in Late June? Can't be that bad... :D I'm planning on doing Wildrose & Telescope peaks. I love the heat! I remember coming back from a hike after work last year up Echo Mountain. Made it back to the car just before 10pm (don't want to get a ticket...) Once I got back to my apt, outs...

Re: Summer Backpack Plans

Since I decided to quit my job and my last day is the end of May, I'm heading up to San Jacinto and San Gorgonio the 1st week of June. After that, Vegas area, Red Rocks, Mt. Charleston & Zion. Death Valley after that, and then Lake Tahoe area. Then up through Lassen, up to Shasta area, and to NE...

Re: Tom Harrison Angeles Front Country Trail Map on iPhone

I don't have ITunes installed, how much is it?

If they put all the TH maps on this, it might convince me to get an IPHONE!

Re: Mt. Waterman Trails (from Buckhorn or Three Points)

Anyone know what the current conditions are on that trail? From what I remember it's pretty much on the south facing side of the mountain. I'm thinking of heading up there before the next cold storm rolls in.

Re: SNOW - Questions, Forecasts & Reports About Snow

Wow, never knew about that cam. Looks like I have another one to check obsessively besides Mt. Wilson. The pic I see right now is dated 12/19 @10am. If you click on the "24 hour image sequence" tab, it sure as heck looks better than their "pristine" sample. Driving down the 210 y...

Re: Car Break In - Altadena

Sure, if anyone has done the Toll Rd, you know it's not too exciting. I took it from the beginning, there are a couple of slightly tricky spots across the slide, but really nothing to worry about. Lots of haze as usual, but some nice views near the top. It was clear enough to see the San Bernadinos ...

Car Break In - Altadena

Did the toll road to Mt. Wilson a couple of weeks ago. Was gone during the day, about 8 hours and arrived back to a busted out window. Glove box, etc were rummaged through, nothing was taken. Nothing of value in the car, nothing in sight - no chargers, gps suction cups, no faceplate on the stereo, n...
