Re: Guess the trail name!

Nope, the routes to the peak are all basically use trails. In fact maybe a bad question since there really isn't a trail "name", lol.

North side view of something. You love your Bear Creek. Could be north rib of triplets. Maybe Twin Peaks from similar area, but I would guess triplet rocks.

Re: Bobcat Fire in West Fork

My apologies for taking this off topic. I should keep my thoughts to myself from now on. Hi Joe, I hope you’re doing well up there. You guys had it rough. I have people up there as well. Cheers all. Yeah dude I'm just joking. Totally on topic. Effing insane fires everywhere. We had basically a mont...

Re: Bobcat Fire in West Fork

I don’t know what I’ll do. I’m sorry, everyone, that our mountains are burning. The San Berdoos and Snow Creek as well. Fucking ridiculous, like a simulation, like a joke. I know you all love the SGs as well. What happened at Glen Camp to start this? Why? I wish I knew. I wish I could go back to my...

This is an amusing thread. I still can't believe coming up that marker at 6388' on Big Horn ridge.

Re: Heaton Flat to Baldy summit loop up Big Horn Ridge and down San Antonio Ridge - trip report and photos

badass! The route from Coldwater you took I think was quite likely an easier route from my experience. While waiting for hikers to go up to Eagle Mine, I went and started following the old Big Horn trail as it wrapped around back south. Actually that part was easy to follow as far as I took it. But ...

Re: Baldora, Gold Dollar, San Antonio Ridge

I can see the photos and probably can scrape the gps coords, but it's a pain. Now that I think about it, I think I did scrape the gps track (points only) at some point in the past. Your blog is still up, and it's serving data (the blog). Can you not serve the gps track too? There was some issues wi...

Re: My Discovery along the North Ridge of Iron

Thanks! Got a 3 yr old and another one on the way. Still get to cycle / trail run up the Santa Cruz mountains here, but long hikes are out for a while :) I'm got caught in these tech jobs for a few years, but even with good pay the housing is so crazy, I think we are going to move in a year. San Die...

Re: Baldora, Gold Dollar, San Antonio Ridge

Looks like it links to AllTrails...looks like you can at least see geo-tagged pictures, is that correct?

But you have to pay to download gpx files? Ridiculous. When I have time I'll figure out where to share them. Any suggestions?

Re: Baldora, Gold Dollar, San Antonio Ridge

Nice! Brings back fun memories. I remember so many damn flies trying go straight up to Gold Dollar Ridge, so steep so there must be an easier way. As for residential area, I can't remember exactly but if you look at the geo-tagged photos in the TR you linked to, you should be able to locate it. Now ...

Re: SR-39 (San Gabriel Canyon Road)

Just because something is partially built, doesn't mean you have to keep it up. It doesn't make financial sense. The phrase "cut your losses" applies here. These mountain roads aren't intended to be congestion-reducing throughputs, they are to provide access to nature. Constant costly upke...

Re: SR-39 (San Gabriel Canyon Road)

Ridiculous. There is no benefit to access to Wrightwood, as it is already faster to take 210 - 15 - 138 to get there than it would be up the slower, curvy, steep mountainous 39 - 2 route. The only benefit would be a 10-20 minute drop in time for people in Azusa / Glendora to get up to the upper ACH ...
