Re: Baldy loop October 21
And why is this sign here? No other trail junction, just randomly posted. That's easy. It's there to hold the bottle opener! :D https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/1429861/IMG_4987.jpg Although the location does seem a bit odd, I think the original intent of the sign was...

Re: Kellys Camp Spring (Ontario Peak Trail)
It's only about 25 yards from the pipe. I took this photo last Oct. Other spring location https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/1369429/Location of other spring.jpg So, basically just downstream. Interesting that they only repaired one of the pipes (there used to be two). ...

Re: Chantry - Newcomb's Pass - Rim Trail- Wilson -Upper WC
My son and I did the exact same hike yesterday, starting at around 7:30a. It was my first time on the very cool Rim Trail, and as you said, it's in great shape. It was tempting at Newcomb Pass to head down and check out the West Fork trail as well, but we had to get home to watch some football!

Richard~I only saw a few downed trees; expected to see more. The one that fell across the trail was the largest.

Stopped by Kelly Spring last night and as one might expect, it's pretty much closed for the season. Great pics of an awesome hike! When I did it we had planned on doing Aqua/Tensor as well, but ran out of water, daylight and energy (not necessarily in that order).

Sorry I missed you guys, Jeff S., Shin, Frank, Richard P were up there and we missed them, then Ty and I came along, funny three groups from this board were on the mountain at the same time and we all missed each other. Not-So-Big Baldy Loop 11-19-11
Phil (lik2hik) and I hiked up Baldy Saturday with thoughts of a Iron Mtn yo-yo, but we wimped out when we got a taste of the arctic winds blowing in from the west. Plus, the San Antonio Ridge was pretty well socked in and there would be little or no of that solar heat stuff I've become so fond of. S...

The "Bye-bye" pic is priceless!
I saw Kathy W's TR from the Aspen Grove a couple of weeks ago and must admit that it's an area of the SGW I've never explored. Which way to the Grove?

Re: OmG Spamm spamm Palisade Traverse ROfl
Oh boy, thanks Dave. That is not where we were. Just like on Snow Creek where I blew by the actual 3rd class bypass and went up some crazy garbage in the dark - we must have passed this up. We actually climbed up below a huge boulder, and the traversed right on a tiny exposed ledge with no hands. H...

Re: OmG Spamm spamm Palisade Traverse ROfl
Great work guys!! :D The bypass just below the chockstone on T-Bolt's SW chute starts with the sloping ledge on the right. You just follow that back until it peters out and then it's a couple of 3rd class moves to get back into the correct chute. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.o...

Re: Clamshell, Rankin, Monrovia, Pine (NHPS)
Did you find any WWII-era Japanese spy equipment? Sounds like there's an interesting story here... what did I miss? I did collect a few of what looked like multi-layer insulation blankets from some form of reconnaissance craft. But why the Japanese would mark them "You're My Sweetie!" and...
