Re: Lukens Trail Conditions
Sorry about the intrusion to your hike. The camera won't be there forever. I don't like to see people on the cameras as much as you don't like to see cameras, I would guess! That's why it's way the heck up there.

Interesting. By 'side waterfall' do you mean where Saucer Branch comes in? I might be able to determine what happened to it. When they are very young, sometimes it's as simple as getting separated from mom for whatever reason and they can't hunt yet.

Re: Roofing Nails on HWY 39 - Road Sabotage or just unlucky?
I alerted the ranger station at Santa Anita and they informed me they've never heard of such a thing and seemed reluctant to log anything suggesting I should cal Cal-Trans.
I've seen plenty of posts about this, and yes it is absolutely sabotage. Shame on the ranger station for not being better ...

I didn't know that! Huh...guess I have to stop giving people shit about ruining our forests with their 'medicinal' needs. I just assumed.scottawr wrote: Dispensary pot is not grown in the mountains it's grown in houses with electricity and water.

Please stop. This is absurd. It is a canyon - there is one way in and one way out.

Those are quite weird.
Four -toed raccoon on steroids is all I can come up with. I checked on badger tracks, and it isn't that for sure.
Or possum on hard packed enough soil that the fifth digit isn't showing? I'll post this on a tracking forum and let everyone geek out about it.

Thanks for the report. Not surprised by the time of day, presence of ravens, etc - all suggest a deer kill nearby. You were in no danger, nor is anyone else.
Makes me envious - I still haven't seen one with my own eyes!

Thanks you guys. I have had a hell of a week - after the exhibit I got a bad cold, my supervisor had a siezure and I had to take over for her, and my old dog got pancreatitis.
All that aside, the gallery opening was fun and it was great too meet RichardK and his wife!!

G2 wildlife photography exhibit

The exhibit features some of our 'camera trap' photos, as well as other hand-held photos from distinguished photographers in LA. Denis and I will be at the reception, as ...

Great pics! That must have been fun to see him pop up while sorting through.

Interesting. I went up there a few times, but the last time I went I was kind of harassed by a resident who (while on his ATV) was trying to convince me it was closed. That someone would tow my car, that I'd get kidnapped by drug lords, and all kinds of things. I thanked him for his interesting ...

I've only been up there once in the snow. I forgot what Little Jimmy looks like when it isn't lush with columbines.

It was fun to hike with this reporter. I actually believe she found it more fun and interesting once she was with us, than she had thought before.
And that's the whole point... this is a fun, non-invasive way to see some amazing things.

Re: Bear Canyon Trail
I haven't been there in a couple of years, though I did go through post Station Fire. Based on conditions in Arroyo Seco right now, I'd guess thrash-fest with walking in the streambed better than trying to follow the old trail. It's still one of the most beautiful places in the SGs, so if you like a ...
