Re: Leave *nothing* behind
There is an excellent book on this topic, appropriately titled: "How To Shit In The Woods" by Kathleen Meyer. I will still practice the burning method, which is mentioned in the book, if I am in a relatively safe environment and then make sure there are no embers with my "fire hose.&q...

Re: Verdugo Bobcats
Very cool video CM! I hike in the Verdugos a lot and have been fortunate enough to have had 3 Bobcat sightings over the years, including an eye level staredown in Wildwood Canyon Park (the bob won, I had to go to work). Re: Chantry Flat
I emailed Jody Noiron (for what it's worth) and emplored that they PLEASE not give up Big Santa Anita without a fight. I don't know what else I can do. I feel for all of the cabin owners, Sturtevant's and the pack station.
It's literally a crying shame.

Re: The Station Fire Thread
Any word on the status of Big Santa Anita Canyon? Sturtevant Camp? Can't find any updated links. The Pack Station hasn't updated their site since the weekend.
Anyone heard anything?

Re: 20080522 Waterslide, San Antonio Canyon
Wow! This brings back some memories! This used to be a wildly popular place in the 80's. Too popular actually, as it was fairly trashed with beer bottles and the like. but on a hot summer day, there was nothing like sliding down that slide! You'd sit in that chute (where the log now is in your pics)...
