Re: General Conditions

If only I didn't work. Maybe sunday morning a quick hike up baldy would be nice!
Hopefully get some rain/snow. I'll post pictures!

Though, the chances of it actually raining/snowing when I'm up there, extremely small, but still! Could be worth it.

I would love to go to the Sierra's, its just so beautiful. Just dont have the beautiful lakes here in southern california mountains.

Nothing like swimming/fishing before going to sleep, or when you wake up. It'd be marvelous.

Re: Man missing in Ice House Canyon/Mt. Baldy area Update: found

If I was new to hiking, and didnt have overnight gear, I'd be freaked out by all the sounds and possibility of animals getting me during the night. I feel bad for the guy. On that note even now, on a day hike(I dont take overnight gear ever) I'd be kinda freaked out. Hurrah for maps and knowledge of...

Re: SNOW - Questions, Forecasts & Reports About Snow

If you just get the brewed coffee by itself, its just brewed at that temperature. I don't think its due to the possibility of people putting stuff in it, it's just the way we do it!

Come to think of it, I actually dont know. I'll let Taco answer that!

Touche! It amazes me the amount of specifics people want in their coffee.

It's great when people come in and just say, i want a grande coffee, thats it.

So great!

Re: sick hike up icehouse canyon

From what I heard, and the guy came out carrying a milk carton full of water as he was talking to us. He said that if you go in the bottom one, after crawling in on your hands or knees or ducking, it'll have a drop of about 3 feet, after that you can stand up inside. Said not too far after the drop ...

Re: sick hike up icehouse canyon

Those flies in icehouse are so annoying, cant stand them, a few in the eyes and mouth don't make a fun hike.

In the bottom cave I believe, deep in it is a fresh water source, at least as far as what I was told by some dude I met up there. I trusted him! Never checked though.

Anyone know the truth?

So theres a sale going on at REI right now, and they have this ice axe.. http://www.rei.com/product/736535 for 49.93. It's a shame they're considered as such. I love seeing them around Chino Hills, it's great to see the wild life even looking out my window. Though, we used to have rabbits that lived in our front yard, not anymore. Tehe.

I usually let the hikers going down have the right away.
And, for the most part, have been allowed to pass people coming up as I'm heading down.

Taco I hope you do mean that I can follow you around! I need someone to show me the ropes! If that Sierra club WTC doesn't teach you crampons/ice axe all that good stuff, I'm looking for that. Looking for winter mountaineering info!

Next winter I plan on trying out the winter aspects of climbing! The little bit of snow I stepped on last March on my hike up Baldy got me foaming at the mouth to get more. Need some tips! Where'd you all learn the basics, and the safety aspects? Read about it? Learn from some class? I'm curious! An...

I've been not wanting to go up Baldy for a while now due to the crowds. The first time I went up Baldy, I saw 1 person going up, and only 2 people on the summit, that joined me on my way back down the backbone. Best day ever. 30 people on the summit, 50 going down backbone? Makes me sad. Gotta go du...
