I was thinking about visiting some of the channel Islands with my wife....

anybody been out there?

unfortunatly the only openings at a time I could go is in mid-october...

I'm assuming it'd be "chilly" then.

While these deaths are terrible they point out the need for careful consideration of the consequences of our actions Be prepared and all that... Is important but it is so nonspecific I understand the SAR team members compulsion to say don't go off the trail, but this is no "magic talisman"...

I don't know why you would think you would need a permit to approach San Jacinto from the tram but not from other trailheads. Never never got a permit...been there (the summit) 6 times or so. from the tram or otherwise. Hiked through out the area and have never had a permit I have long noticed stat...
