Re: Yerba Buena Ridge Highpoint and Limerock Peak

As far as I can tell, most access points to the Yerba Buena Ridge area from the Little-T side before Gold Creek Rd involve crossing private land. There is what I believe to be a legitimate bypass trail that can be accessed from Gold Creek Rd. Here is a map for a hike I took back in 2004 http://calt...

Re: Register Ridge Trail

Very cold temperatures make dry powder or so it seems to me. It can be snowing above the ground and raining down lower and everything inbetween It seems to me generally we do not have the very cold temperatures to get powder say 15° F But this time we had cold temps on the ground during and after th...

Re: Gear Review: Hillsound Trail Crampons

I used them a few times and they broke.

But to be fair I'm not using them on snow nor ice. I used (abused) them hiking bare decomposed granite firebreaks.

I do use the Kahtoola ones for this and they last and last

Vasquez Creek 11/29/2014

I don't have any gps data nor did I take photos. We parked in a safe place so our windows wouldn't get smashed. Got going around 8am. The Grizzly Flat trail now starts off Silver Creek wash just follow the flagging tape. Getting to the end of the Grizzly Flat road the once open pine forest is replac...

I especially like the 3rd image. It really gives a sense of motion

It reminds me of when my truck broke down in Great Basin National Park and encountered a humming bird sitting on it's nest when we where hiking XC to the Visitor Center to call AAA

Re: Mt Lukens vis "CR" Ridge

1996 to 2006 I kept track of 1000 trips

or an average of 1.9 trips per week for 10 years.

It is certainly more but I can say with confidence 1000 times to the highest point on Mt Lukens over that period.

I've been slacking since then with only 53 in the last eight years

Re: Mt Lukens via "CR" Ridge

Interesting. The road basically follows the same ridge, but in a road kind of way (i.e. 500 feet/mile or less kind of way). Cool stuff. Pics or it didn't happen ;) yeah I'm thinking it was put in when the cable was. The road has not been and will not? be maintained anymore. The Haines Cyn Mtnwy is ...

Mt Lukens via "CR" Ridge

http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/630097985 This is probably the shortest route to the summit of Mt Lukens. I have hiked most of the the segments at one time or another, never strung them all together. My hiking partners vehicle died on the way to Haines Cyn Ave so I was on my own. Got goin...

Why was the front county left out? Excellent question. High Desert was included to prevent any further development IMO

I agree with the posts saying debris basins, power lines, water companies etc. Have too many powerful interests behind them
