Hiking long distance always moving during the day I don't a lot of time to layout a solar panel. I have hung the Anker 21w on my pack while moving.

I think just using a battery pack and power management is better

A coworker told me a friend of his was one of the injured evacuated. Nearing the top his crampons didn't grip the rock hard ice, nor did his ice axe help much, he slid about 600ft. worst of it is several broken ribs, one of which had to be removed because it poked a hole in his lung No helmet though...

I work in the industrial area off Halsey canyon road. I drive by this area every work day. Done a fair bit of hiking in the area of your report on and off trail. It is different for sure but interesting. The area above the narrows have several oil wells in years gone by

The area generally north of Santa Clarita, west of Liebre Mtns is the Ridge Basin. Sierra Palona Mtns are the north / south ranges from the AV to Santa Clarita

I have dropped in there to the falls. But there was a steep drop off at the bottom. This was before the fire about 20 years ago

I use them for hiking the steep bare firebreaks

I assume there is no water along that entire stretch, including at North Fork or Messenger Flats, but if that is inaccurate, I'd be happy to know that.
