This segment of the PCT is in historic Crowder Canyon, this was the original "Cajon Pass" it seems to me but a toll road was built by John Brown in 1861

Re: does "ultralight" really matter?
For me it makes a difference I also don't think it wise to take yourself to the limit on any outdoor trip. Should something happen you'll need energy to take care of the problem But I have to keep the weight on my back as low as possible due to a severe back injury 19 years ago. Without ultralight I...

Ouch. But exciting. And aren't yucca fun? HJ I usually cry Fucca! But there are techniques to emerge unscathed (relatively) through "Yucca Havens" Mostly they involve a carefully placed foot I like them for handholds, grab a bunch of fronds and hang on! These are hard to pull out even whe...

Re: Plane crash above Glendora
The Lt. says the site is inaccessible. No, it is very accessible. Anyone can see the plane on the hillside from Bonelli Park to San Dimas. He is correct that the plane is wedged into the brush. The issue now: who is going to remove the plane. Evidently, it is the plane's owner or the owner's insura...

Nice attempt!
That route was a breeze after the 1993 fire
Not so much any more
The south facing areas areas are always warm to hot when the sun shines. Cloudy days are best for exploring in that neck o the woods IMO
Thanx for sharing

It's California, it'll probably be ok but who knows
I for one would not without locking it up or having someone to stay with the gear.
pacsafe is very good but where you'd lock it up? I couldn't guess
