That stretch of trail between the Wildlife View Area just west of Pinos and Cerro Noreste is in the Chumash Wilderness. No bueno on bikes there.

Re: TR: PCT Mill Creek Summit to Soledad Canyon, April 2021
I've wanted to do that exact same route, but just never got around to it. Surprised that the PCT is that overgrown. I walked to the PCT from Millcreek to the Gleason benchmark in Feb. 2020 (right before the pandemic thing exploded) and found that section easily passable. That was probably before the...

Well, there you have it. David Stillman's speculation may be correct. 2 guys climbed this peak with a bag a weed and a container of Cream Puffs. And the rest is Los Padres history.

Re: Hines Peak
I sent an email this morning to Pinetar, the dude who left the Creampuff register in 1999, asking about the origin of the name. I don't expect a 22 year old email address to still be in use, but it was worth a shot. I don't know if bardley still visits this site, but he might now. Or he might know ...

Re: Hines Peak
Not too much to add to what teke and Sean have already said. This is a cool area that isn't easy to access so it doesn't see that much traffic. Your options of getting here are to (i) ascend Sisar Canyon to the Red Reef Trail from the south and then up through White Ledge trail camp to the ridge (th...

Re: Buckhorn Triangle
Very happy he was found and is uninjured. But I wish the media and others would stop pushing the narrative that all these folks getting lost in plain site are "experienced" hikers. I don't know one person that I would characterize as "experienced" who would end up lost deep in Be...

Myeh. I'm not part of the "club," but I'm also not that troubled by the fact that the location of this cave (and other rock art sites) aren't made public. If they were, every dipshit with a can of spray paint and a bag of weed (read, the "filthy casuals") would be out there destr...

Re: TELESCOPE PEAK
I had the same experience atop Telescope when I climbed it. High winds and frigid temps. Only stayed on the summit a few minutes, then back-tracked to the switch-backs to shelter from the freezing wind for a celebratory beer. Camped a Mahogany which was very pleasant in contrast to Telescope itself.

Re: SAR Seeking Help Identifying Location In Photo
Read that this guy claimed to have seen a bear and a mountain lion during his, er, ordeal. I call bullshit on that. While it's theoretically possible, a guy that gets lost on the Mt. Waterman trail has zero outdoor credibility as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and he's potentially facing 6 months in jail...

Nice Jerry! A couple of years back, and friend and I walked the GMT from Reyes Creek to Piedra Blanca. We spent 3 days/2 nights on the trail. First night at a very chilly Beartrap, second at Pine Mountain Lodge. Great outing. Nice, remote country. The campsite at 3 Mile looked particularly inviting....

You can see where the creek from Hot Springs Canyon joins the Sespe, and you can see the lower part of Hot Springs Canyon, but I can't say for sure whether you can see where the hot springs are exactly. I don't have enough knowledge to know that.

I haven't posted a TR for awhile so I figure I owe y'all one. Friday, I played hooky from work and went on an adventure with teke. Thanks for the report and pics dima. Relieved to see that it doesn't look as bad as I thought it might. Also thanks for that Caltopo map stonehill. Really well done and informative. Btw dima, I can't see the photos using desktop Chrome either unless I click on the icon. I know, i know - Crap-a-talk.

Seems like the ANF is being deliberately vague about status. The LPNF has announced on its landing page that it is mostly back open effective today.
