Re: Chocolate Peak and Mount Goode

Have you been up Mt. Gould? Seems like an easily accessible 13er. I could be persuaded if you wanted to give it a go sometime.

Re: Chocolate Peak and Mount Goode

That's a substantial "up" day.

I've not really been into that basin. Went to Marie Louise Lakes once, but that's it. Swampy.

I've looked at CalTopo and contemplated Agassiz in the past. Not that it looked that way from the topos, but from your pics, it don't look easy.

On my 2011 JMT (big snow year), I also missed that turn and hiked way up into Lyell Canyon where I wound up spending the night and adding a day to my trip https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/emojione/2.2.7/assets/svg/1f644.svg https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/emojione/2.2.7/assets/svg/1f60...

JMT - Tuolumne to Agnew

Every year a friend of mine has the foresight in the early part of the year to get permits for Yosemite. I'm never thinking about such things in the winter so I always end up having to mooch off of him permit-wise. Last year, his permit was for entry at Murphy Creek so we camped at Polly Dome Lakes ...

Nice teke. Looks like you had an amazing day.

That range is still unexplored by me. My anti long-drive obstinacy doesn't permit me to visit nice places like this for a day hike.

Guess that answers the question of whether you got in your Sierra trip.

I would have stayed one night at Dingleberry. Just for the name. ?

Moonlight looks very nice.

Thanks Sean for organizing this little adventure. And thanks to everyone that came out. Super fun day in the mountains. Here's some more photo documentation. 2_.jpg Just starting up the canyon. It was nice early, but was pretty toasty when we came back down. Btw, the road was in decent shape. Couple...

Mt. Lawlor Firebreak

Finally got back into the San Gabes yesterday after a long hiatus. Driving burn out kept me away for a spell. Decided I make my way to the summit of Lawlor where I knew no one would be. The forest was a madhouse. Big T was clogged with cars at the Trail Canyon trailhead (See TR by David R for detes)...

Re: Looking for a long hike/jog partner, Silver Moc trail single day push

I was up on Lawlor earlier today. The firebreak from Lawlor to Barley Flats looked pretty clear from where I was sitting. The firebreak is well defined and doesn't appear to be overgrown. 20220410_124006.jpg I didn't try to walk it so I can't say for sure, but the old road didn't look that promising...

Errand Hiking: Mt. Lee and the Wisdom Tree

I had to run an errand last week in Studio City so figured I'd try to parlay that into a local hike. With gas between $6-$7/gallon, I figured I'd try to squeeze as much out of my driving as possible. There's not a whole lot of great hiking options near Studio City. But the trail to the Wisdom Tree w...
