Re: Icehouse project
I have an Icehouse project, I would like to shut down the road above Baldy Village to everyone except the residents. The whole area is way overused. IHC isn't worth hiking anymore unless it is a weekday and Baldy is an embarrassment. A van will be by later today to take you to a re-education camp D...

Any reports on where exactly Bob's was found? I'm guessing down one of those chutes on the west side of that ridge leading to Islip?

Saw these guys at the base of a log in Sycamore Canyon. They were about the size of my hand and kinda leathery. I mean the shrooms. My hands aren't leathery as far as I know.

I've come up from the Burma side. I didn't see any reasonable (for me) route to the Pinnacle from the south/east. The road walk isn't terribly interesting to be honest.

Re: Missing hiker on Baldy (Julian Sands)
Btw, I read that Sands is a fairly accomplished mountaineer. At least according to him. I guess he's climbed in the Alps, the Andes, etc. Ironic that the diminutive Gabes may be his demise. It's easy to underestimate them, especially in comparison to the other more sexy ranges. I feel that happens q...

It doesn't appear as if the "entire forest" is actually closed. The order doesn't include the Mt. Pinos District.

Los Padres Closure Order

So what happens to the facility now? Anyone who wants to use it is presumably going to have to cut a new road for ingress and egress. An expensive proposition.

It's a fair distance from Grizzly Flat. I wouldn't immediately think the two are connected.
The junction I'm referring to is here: https://caltopo.com/map.html#ll=34.2262 ... =16&b=f16a
Are we talking the same language?

Stand of Evergreens
Hey, does anyone know the anything about that stand of evergreens at the junction of the Fern Truck Trail and Brown Mountain Road? I think they are Ponderosa Pines, but not certain. Doesn't seem like they are naturally-occurring, but maybe someone knows the story behind them. 20221203_140831.jpg 202...

I have a Tyvek tarp as well. It is loud. But I haven't washed mine per JeffH. It's also more bulky than you'd think. At least more so than plastic drop cloth. But more durable obviously.

Nice ride. I like Camino Cielo. Good looks to the ocean and the interior. I know you know this, but dima rode Camino Cielo a couple of year back coming from the east...up Matilija to Murrieta, over the top and down to Juncal and then to the Camino Cielo. You could really stitch together a nice alter...
