Re: Palisade Glacier

HJ - Thank You! lilbitmo - You were up and down the trail before we got back. We started at 4:45AM, reached the glacier at 3:00PM, and returned to the car at midnight. Now, I know that there are hikers on this board who could do the hike twice in that time period and want more. But, as a 61 year ol...

Re: Palisade Glacier

Richard, Norma, Eman and I were there that day as well, don't know how we missed you, we only went as far as the Second Lake because it was our fourth day of hiking/climbing in a row and we started at 11:30ish and exited by 5:05 PM, about the time I would guess you came down from the glacier? We ran...

Re: Yucaipa Ridge Last Sunday

Thanks Patrick. Our time was much slower than you would be, I'm sure. First we went slower because of coming up through the wash instead of staying on the ridge from Mill Creek. Then, one of our party was a little slower as well. My GPS measured a total time of 11-1/2hrs including lunch and breaks,...

Nice work Victor, great shots, flowers are nice and bright.

What's the time frame for the whole hike?

I'd like to do that hike when the weather's a little cooler.

Nice work Victor, that's one hell of a good day, 5 peaks and a little scree slide to cap off the nice day. Video's look great too and so do all the pictures. That slug up the first ridgeline coming away from the Baldy Notch headed up the Devils Backbone can be a "ball buster" after tagging...

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I really liked the trip. Patrick, I think we may be talking about two different people. The two camping at Kelly's camp are not who Sal is, they were a man and wife couple I think. I heard from the ranger at the parking lot station that they were showing him p...

First off, thanks Norma for the invite back to the mountains, I've been nursing a "hamstring pull" not quite a tear that I got playing tournament softball two weeks ago in Pismo Beach - when will I learn that I'm not that young anymore :?: - anyway that was a great day on the mountain, tem...

Patrick, that would be from the Grand Prix fire of 2003.
Fritz, is that the same one that caused all the damage on the north west facing slopes of Ontario as well? That forest of death  :?:

That's just before I started hiking so I'm not up on that fire.

Patrick, my camera is waterproof. Super tough! If anyone wants to go, I'm interested in going again real soon. We would need at least one 200ft static rope in the group, as my rope is toast, and Johnny's 60m dynamic probably wouldn't last long if we used it there again. Static is really the only ap...

Those are some very informative pictures, that area looks beat up from a previous fire - any idea when that was?

Gonna have to jump in with you on one of these wild ones - when the temp's are a little cooler - the heat fries me.
