Re: Big Bear Mt. Hikes?

My wife and I will be up in Big Bear for the weekend and want to do a few good hikes. Scenic, water, minor snow. We do Baldy, Ice house, Wilson and such on a regular basis, to give you an idea of our skill/ability level. Any help would be appreciated. Directions to trail head, photo pages of hike, ...

Taco - Was that Tinaballina or whatever with the HAPE patrol? It's hard to recognize people with all the helmets and glasses, especially when you've only seen them on trip reports. She was coughing up a lung for sure. She was not in that area, she was on Olancha over the weekend, that was another f...

I've been up all weekend in the Crystal Lake area area hiking around. Back home now. Y'all seemed to have survived the rapture thingy pretty well. We were camped out eating Mountain House Sweet and Sour Pork, or whatever it was, waiting for the tsunami or earthquake. And then nothing. Maybe I had t...

Re: Golden Trout Wilderness/Cottonwood lakes

When? Are you hiking into the lakes each day or camping at them? The Horseshoe Meadow Campground is a great place to camp and you can venture into the different lakes and no permit is required, where as it is if you camp at the lakes, the trial to the lakes is fairly easy. If you go in the next coup...

Really great shots and report HJ I like the shot of the summits reflecting in Dry Lake and the comment, I agree there's so many nice ascents here that get overlooked. Curious though, you shot leading up over Lake Peak to Ten Thousand Foot Ridge shows nothing but patchy snow and dry dirt near the top...
