Re: Black Star Canyon
I ride my MTB up BStar fairly often and have seen most of theses sights. Though, I've never gone to the falls - though my daughter has taken my dogs there twice. Lots of legends and myths of the area. I think the bus legend is one of those. Some reports have it that one of the property owners just h...

I had a friend used to work Mt Waterman Ski Patrol.
Some evacuations can be done running lifts backwards slowly.
I do think sometimes lines need to be strung - that would take many hours.

They are more prevalent in the desert, and tend towards the higher, rockier areas.
I've seen them pretty high in the Tehachapis/Southern Sierra.

Re: Amgen Tour, May 21 (Sat) - Mt. Baldy Limited Access
In my 3 years of following various stages of AToC, on most roads you can drive in a few hours before the rolling closures and find yourself a parking spot off the road and wait. You can always walk or ride a bike past closures until just a few minutes before the race comes by. I'm debating to go to ...

Horseshoe Meadows is not too far and I think they have one night camping for free.
The portal also has a hiker's camp, I think it's real cheap or free.

I am against further wilderness in this area. Give us a third option; I am convinced I'm afainst it. Most of these pro Wilderness arguments mention that NPS will have more $ and resources and this will solve the problems. Like magically, the diaper droppers and spray painters will stop. If this were...

4 Half Dome Permits for 8-28 Available for Free In case you don't know; you now need a permit to hike Half Dome on Fri-Sun and holidays.
