Congrats on a fun climb.
Your right about the slope after you exit the couloir, it's the steepest part of the climb.

Hey Rick, I've noticed that you always(?) start the loop with Sugarloaf and go counter-clockwise. Any particular reason? I prefer the other way because you start & finish downhill

Big Baldy Loop - 5.7.11
It's been a long time since I've posted a trip report, so I thought I would before Taco deletes my user name :o (j/k of course) Anyways, on Saturday I hiked the 6 peaks version of the Big Baldy Loop. I started at Icehouse parking lot and walked down to the village and up the Bear Canyon trail, then ...

Looks like we missed you by about 20 mins...dang! Jeff mentioned he was heading up the trail, but it was just too cold and windy to hang out.

Great TR and pics, Burchey. Nice downclimb on Mallory, glad it worked out!
I was on the MR on Friday and it's was a quiet climb, as all the other climbers were camping.

All trails that go into the Whitney Zone require permits, both day and overnight. Outside the Whitney Zone, permits are only required for overnight. This is only during quota season.

Re: Stove of the Week: MSR Simmerlite
Thanks for info, Jim! I agree with you about loosening the nut and rotating the connecter. I did try this but the connector seemed as if it was "one piece" and I couldn't rotate it. I didn't want to force it. The gas line is flexible but it wants to flip either the stove over of the fule c...

Re: Stove of the Week: MSR Simmerlite
Great review on the stoves, Jim! I enjoy reading your blog. Question: I recently bought a MSR WindPro as my new cold weather, alpine stove and I want to be able to use inverted canisters on it. The stock configuration of the fuel line makes it hard to invert the canister. Do you have any tricks on h...

Anyone have any ideas where one could go to dry tool in the LA area? Taco? You know the SG mountains well, any cool crags where a top rope is possible?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks, Jeff. Yeah, I didn't see the regisiter on Sunday either.
