Re: Jepson Peak via Northeast Face, 07-Mar-2009

Hi Tim, it was nice meeting you in the parking lot on Saturday morning. I was with my buddy Arthur (taller guy) and we were heading to the base of Jepson for the night. Nice going climbing Jepson in a day. We arrived at camp as your were putting on your crampons for the climb. I was going to take so...

Hi 406, I was thinking the same thing. Although I don't ski, I want to climb that slope up to Timber one of these days.

Re: Baldy Register Ridge 2-21-09

Great pics Alan. I actually thought about doing Register Ridge on Saturday also, but with a late start I didn't want to mess with the crowds at Manker. If you look close at some of my pics from Ontario Peak, you might be able to see yourself

Re: Ontario Peak

It was great meeting you Len. I don't have much to add, so I'll just mention a few things on your TR. The Icehouse parking lot was its usual madhouse, but somehow I managed to find a parking spot just after 9am. There were a lot of hikers on the lower part of the trail below Icehouse Saddle, but mos...

Re: Bighorn Peak 2-15-09

Thanks for the TR and pics. It's been a long time since I've seen that much snow at the saddle, and there is a lot more on the way!

Nice going guys! Traveling above Dry Lake without snowshoes is damn tough with fresh snow.

Ouch Taco! Glad to hear everything turned out ok. Good thing you had great climbing partners that day.

See you on/off the trail someday. (I'm surprised we haven't run into each other in the Baldy area yet!)

Re: Do you wear sunglasses while hiking?

I hike all year with sunglasses and during the winter I keep a 2nd pair in my backpack. I would hate to be in the snowy backcountry and not have sunglasses.

hillbasher- Nice catch! That was a total brain fade. Thanks.

TacoDelRio- Thanks!

He219- I hope we get another good dumping also. In the mean time, I'll probably do some climbs on the north facing slopes where there is more snow.

Mt. Baldy Loop - 3.1.08

My friend Arthur and I climb Mt. Baldy on Saturday. We went up the bowl and down the Devil's backbone. Snow conditions were actually good for as warm as it was. The snow is melting fast, but there is still plenty in the bowl. A lot of the snow on the backbone as melted, but there were still sections...
