Thanks, Patrick!

I'll probably head up the Baldy Bowl then over to Dawson & Pine and back. Maybe a few others too if the snow doesn't wear me out.

michaelmagno- Just as TacoDelRio said. We didn't bring crampons or ice axe since it was fresh, unconsolidated snow on top of dirt.

Norma- I actually never looked at the wind speed on Arthur's Kestrel device, but it wasn't a lot, maybe 30mph max. I bet today was much worse. moppychris- Since there was only a few inches of snow, it was a fairly easy day. Arthur might disagree though (he doesn't dayhike much). hvydrt- Great pictur...

San Gorgonio - 11.28.09

What do you do when a winter storm is coming to socal? You go climb a mountain of course! (as long as you feel comfortable in such conditions). Nice meeting you Ze and great TR.

Btw, Rick & Michael did miss the last tram down (9:45), but they were able to persuade the tram operator for a ride down. I picked them up on the tram road around 10:30pm.

Hey Rick,

Richard and I missed you by a few hours (9 actually) on Baden-Burnham-Throop-Hawkins. Did you get rained on? I was going to tag Mt. Lewis on my way out, but it was raining, thunder & lighning when I passed Dawson Saddle around 5:30pm.

It was good meeting you Liz & Jeff. It's a good thing you got a alpine start because it was very warm later in the day. It felt like July on the Three Tee's trail.

Btw Liz, nice job on joining the Baldy 20+ summits Club :P

Mt. Baldy, Dawson, Pine & West Baldy - 3.21.09

It was a unusually quiet day on Baldy today. Started from Manker Flat at 7:20am and only saw a few hikers on the way up to the hut. A few more climbers in the bowl and no one on the summit (weird). Headed down the North side to Dawson and Pine and then back up to Baldy, where there were only 3 hiker...

Re: How fast do you alpine climb?

Just as Taco mentioned, there are a lot of factors. Soft snow, styrofoam snow, breaking trail.....etc. The biggest factor I think is the Altitude your climbing at.
