Cucamonga Peak from the South???

Not sure where to post this. . . But does anyone have information on climbing the south facing ridges of Cucamonga Peak? Something like this. . .maybe starting at the top of Haven Avenue: https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/710936/Cucamonga Peak1.jpg I drove up Haven toda...

I read the word "Cougar" and thought I was gonna read a different kind of story when I clicked the link. . .

Glad to hear the hikers escaped unharmed.

Here is a good site for Whitney information - the Whitney Portal Store Message Board:

Zach is correct in stating that mid-week permits are usually pretty easy to get just by walking in.

You'll have to post a TR here after your Mt Hood climb. I'd be really interested in hearing about it and seeing pictures. Good luck and be safe.

Re: MT HOOD - May 25, 2010

Yes, the south side can be climbed unroped on the route I am intending. Further west past Illumination Saddle you hit the Reid Glacier and that can require roped travel. The one crevasse noted in my photo is the only one on this route and it is routinely passed by going wide around it. There is alot...

Awesome!!

All these pics, and TRs today make me want to go climb something. I just might be sick this week because I don't want to fight the weekend crowds.

Obvioulsy this isn't the local mountains, and its not a picture of me, but a friend of mine found this and neither of us know where it is but I thought it was cool enough to share. Crazy exposure it seems. Enjoy. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/gallery.myff.org/gallery/699241/Mountain Climber...

Great video! San J looks awesome and I bet the tram ride up was awesome with all of that snow.

I am really glad you were able to self-arrest that terrible roll/fall you took on your way back down, I was worried at that speed you'd never stop! Ha, Ha

MT HOOD - May 25, 2010

I will be solo climbing Mt Hood on May 25, 2010 -- so I'm just putting it out there, if anyone has this mountain on their list of "to-do's" and has wanted a partner you're welcome to come up and climb with me. No worries. I will be in WA climbing Mt Rainier from May 21-24, and after that c...

Instead of the sobriety checkpoint the cops setup sometimes on Mountain Ave for drunk sledders on their way home from Manker, they should setup a stupidity checkpoint on the way up to keep the idiots and the east LA crowd out of the hills.

Thanks. Now, just so we are clear. . .this is the Register Ridge located near San Gorgonio at the southwest end of the Jenks Lake parking lot behind the third tree to the left after you walk in circles for 5 minutes, just after you get off the San Jacinto tram??? Right??? My lips are sealed!
