Re: Triplet Rocks

Who says there is nothing else to do:?::?::?: I've done it once about 20 years ago.... Hike up Iron Mountain via the North Face. Its one hell of a hike but doable. Start from East Fork and head up the canyon to the Fish Fork cutoff. Head east and then head south up the north face. There were 3 of us...

Re: Angeles Crest Highway (CA-2)

I have heard rumors that ACH pout of la Canada might be opened near the end of November. A couple of bridges are being built where the highway slipped away a few months ago. The rumors are from the USFS so we know what that might mean. If I were a betting man, and I am, I'll say good luck to the end...

Why the sad faces???

Hell, I've been spending most of my time in the San Bernardino's the last 14 months and now she's going to let that forest burn to the ground. :x

Gathering Pine Nuts

To anyone who is interested in gather Pine Nuts... After 7 years of no cones producing seeds, this year has been a bounty for gathering Pine Nuts. Now unfortunately the seeds we gathered are in the Kennedy Meadow area. But if you enjoy Pine Nuts, head on up. The weather up there is fabulous this tim...

Re: Where is the best place in the SG mountains to get Solitude?

The most remote place I have been to has a pool all year round and no trash either. When I was there there were no other foot prints as well. Where is this gem in the Angeles?? Well, if I tell one, I tell all and then it won't be the best camp site no one knows about. So for that reason I'll keep it...

Re: how do i get in touch with the los angeles national forest ?

You should be calling the main office in Arcadia. Crazy as it sounds, the 2 names someone posted to contact are now both gone. Howard retired at the beginning of October and Jody moved to the San Bernardino Forest so see can make orchestrate the total destruction by fire of that forest next. She is ...

One more thing.

Taxes, You fools have no idea where your taxes go. You really don't. Taxes have not one dam thing to do with anything here in the state. NOTHING!!! ALL taxes go to the federal reserve.
Boy you fools are gullible.

Well it looks like its all going to burn now. The fires is hot in there as of Friday 9/4/09. More than likely it will burn up the south face of Waterman and burn Twin Peaks as well.
Yes, kiss the forest goodbye. We will not see it return in our lifetime.

I have photo's of the burn. Arroyo is a total burn out all the way to Red Box from La Canada. 99% of the guard rails are burnt out, road signs are melted and there are dead animals on the highway. Mill Creek RS is gone. Monte Cristo & Shortcut Fire Stations were both burnt but I haven't heard ho...

The trail to Echo and Inpiration Point is safe. The Middle Merrill on the backside near Lowe camp may be wiped out as may be the campground @ Lowe. There was one cabin still in the upper reaches of Eaton Canyon when I last visited it in 93'. There was one next to it and the story goes a bear got inside and tore it apart. So bad that the bear actually demolished. Its nice to hear stories like that. Whether or not the fire got into this particula...

The shortcut is easy to locate. Its no more than a mile past the old road up to Little Jimmy and will be on your right side just before the concrete water tank. After Saturday's adventure down to Upper Fish Fork Camp, we decided to check out the old camp site at Cabin Flat. From Lupine @ 6650' down old 3N39 it was a relaxing 2.7 miles stroll. The forest was burnt in some areas probably from the fire in 99'. The morning air was still cool but the hike out pr...

Nice photo's of your hike. I was over on Throop Hawkins and Burnham Saturday and we had the Koreans as well. They seem to be everywhere.
