Re: Dillon Divide to Dagger Flat Canyon and Laurel Canyon
Thanks for sharing! I've been meaning to get out here soon. It looks like the flow is nice now! If you make it up to where the South Fork of Pacoima meets the main fork, there's a really nice waterfall spot along the main fork. There a few other nice seasonal waterfalls here, but this is my personal ...

Thanks for the update! I may try Condor Peak and then going up Trail Canyon another time before attempting the loop.

Thanks, this is good to know. If/when I do attempt the loop, I'll be sure to set aside a few extra hours.

Re: Condor Peak attempt via Trail Canyon
Has anyone been to the upper part of this canyon recently? I did it a while ago without looking at a map or anything and I remember it being pretty bad. I was recently looking at parts of Google Maps and it seems like some sections of the trail linking Condor Peak to Trail Canyon Falls may be intact ...

I did the Verdugo ridge line this weekend. It was open and pretty nice. Not quite the ANF, but not a bad alternative.

I love both of these areas - especially Owl Canyon when you get to where it narrows. Thanks for sharing! I may try to dig up some old pictures I have and share them in the future.

Re: Upper Bear Creek, Azusa canyon.... Above the narrows and falls
Thanks for the report. I didn't do this but it may be neat to try something similar sometime. I went up from the West Fork of the San Gabriel River to the last waterfall in you report earlier today. I didn't feel like trying to climb over it, and I didn't see an obvious use trail around it either ...

Re: Monrovia & Rankin but no Clamshell
It was pretty wild with the snow. There was much more snow on the back side of the mountain that what was visible from Monrovia at the time, but it was very slippery with my shoes.

Neat! I've never been in this one, but I did find some near by a couple years ago. I noticed some copper carbonate minerals on the rocks near a section of the mountain with a bunch of adits. It would be nice to check that spot out in the future if there's another opportunity to visit. I need to ...

Re: Monrovia & Rankin but no Clamshell
Awesome! I didn't know you could drive up there. I went to Rankin in February I think, but the snow made it to slippery to get to Monrovia Peak on the ridge line in water shoes. I may have gone up Clamshell, but not known it. I saved some pictures fortunately at Rankin. It was gorgeous up there ...

Re: Valley Forge Canyon
Pretty Much, there are no huge drops so it's mostly just saying on then west fork (going back the way I came). Last time I went it was a little overgrown in parts and very very dry. I have some pictures I actually pulled up recently. There was pretty much nothing in the reservoir. I think this was ...

Re: Valley Forge Canyon
Wow, that DEM really does a good job at highlighting the road. I went down from Redbox to the West Fork Trail Camp with plans to make my way out to Cogswell since I haven't been out that way from above since before the Bobcat Fire, but when I got to the trail camp I didn't really feel like ...

I was poking around some of this area and a few other spots near by this weekend. I found remnants of an oil burning stove, a knife, small glass bottles, and a few other relics. I got some video and a few pictures, but didn't post video from this spot. I'll share some images although I didn't get ...

Re: Question about some Hot Springs

Is there a way I can edit my previous reply to remove the location information? I mentioned that I'd ask about doing that on another forum I ...

Question about some Hot Springs
I was out exploring the San Bernardinos recently and I stumbled upon a few hot spring pools. Are any of you familiar with these and if so, do any of you know if this spot has a name or something? I was looking online and not able to really find much info on it.

I did a jog up that fire road from Lake Hughes Road a couple of years ago and saw the same mine shaft. Has anyone actually explored that adit? I remember there being a bunch of water in it, but I didn't expect to see it and wasn't planning on going in.

I don't go to Baldy often. I think I saw one person on register ridge when I took that rout. There is a rout you can take that connects to back bone trail from the north for of Lytle Creek, which I took. I didn't see anyone until back bone, but when went down, I saw two people on bikes and one group ...

Re: 20120304 Schvaterfall Cyn First Descent - 300ft'er!!!!
How was the final descent into the canyon? Do you think it's worth bushwhacking up to from below? I made it ~2.5 miles up Bichota Canyon "trail" last summer if you can even call it that, and It took a lot longer than I thought it would. Are any of the waterfalls back there worth exploring? I may try ...

Re: West Fork San Gabriel river 12/25/10
Sorry this took a bit, I need to get on here more. I've explored a lot of the west fork area, but I'm planning to explore another spot tomorrow and I wanted to see if anyone had been.
Regarding the west fork waterfalls, I started here (34°14'28.1"N 117°52'05.4"W), and I think I explored these four ...

Washout from above
Looks Great! I haven't been up there in a while. I think I remember before and after that washout, unless it's a newer wash out (in the last ~2-3 years). I recall seeing some construction being done so perhaps that washout is more recent unless they didn't finish. Was it ...

That was a really cool video. I was thinking the same as Tekewin. I was fearing that you might step into something below the water that was dangerous.

Re: Finding Tunnel #5 In Las Flores Canyon
That's mad! So glad somebody made it in there, although I'm shocked it is passable at all. My recollection is that past the point where we dug out the opening the floor level was too high to even crawl for as far as we could see (probably the result of repeated floods carrying sediment, over many ...
