Thanks, I’d like to get to the top of Ross (and maybe peak 5495) some day, as it’s pretty much smack dab in the middle of the upper East Fork canyons.AW~ wrote:That peak is 5495 Ross!...nhps approved. I have a lot of pics of that one...east,west,north,south,up,down.and all around.

Re: Fish Fork Solo Backpacking (and lots of sheep)
Thanks! Yeah, lots more water than when I was back there last in June 2022. I was definitely really lucky to see so many of them this trip.

Re: Fish Fork Solo Backpacking (and lots of sheep)
The lowest falls in FF should be marked on a regular USGS map. That's the furthest you can go without some scrambling up around em and so forth. Not long after passing those you'll encounter more falls. I miss FF. Beautiful place. Nobody there. Great water. Very special place for me. Great photos o...

Fish Fork Solo Backpacking (and lots of sheep)
Had an awesome 2 night solo backpacking trip to the Fish Fork camp. I was looking for solitude and definitely got it back there. Lots of water still flowing everywhere even so late in the season. There was definitely more water flowing than last time I was at the East Fork in June 2022. I saw about ...

Re: East Fork: Devil Gulch Falls and Iron Fork
I went to Devil's Gulch Waterfall and the bridge on Sunday. As expected, the entire East Fork was an absolute zoo. I've never so many people there, including 5 CHP cruisers who at one point blocked access via car to the TH. I didn't see a single FS ranger though. The waterfall is worth the effort e...

Re: East Fork: Devil Gulch Falls and Iron Fork
Those are some great pictures and thanks for the trip report. I'm amazed by the amount of water flowing considering the area is in a Severe Drought condx right now. BTW, that rock with the strange texture (folds) can be seen on similar rocks along the Ice House Canyon Trail. I believe they are just...

Re: East Fork: Devil Gulch Falls and Iron Fork
Nice shots. There's a long forgotten mine up in Ross Gulch. Sounds like you got pretty close to it. That lizard is called a western whiptail. Did you notice all the signatures carved into that rock table at Trogden's Camp? One's from 1929, same year George Trogden and Oliver Justice died. Yeah I sa...

Definitely was! Unfortunately not because I didn’t have my phone with me that day. It was flowing nicely with 2 tiers about 20-30 feet I’d say. Next time I’m gonna bring my phone and be better prepared to go further in.Anthony wrote:Looks like a great trip. Any photos of Ross Gulch Falls?

Re: East Fork: Devil Gulch Falls and Iron Fork
Wow! Beautiful pics. They are so refreshing. I've been wanting to go back to Devil's Gulch. There use to be a rope to the right of the falls hanging on a tree. I've climbed it a couple of times to get up to the top of the waterfall. It takes a little bushwacking to get through but there is another ...

East Fork: Devil Gulch Falls and Iron Fork
A couple days ago I did a solo overnight trip to Iron Fork. On the way I checked out Devil Gulch Falls for the first time. Devil Falls is pretty straightforward to find if you know where to go and look. Definitely a super beautiful place and I had it all to myself on a Tuesday! Can’t think of a bett...

Cattle Canyon 4/26
Easy and fun creeking at Cattle Canyon. First post here and I wanted to share some pictures ? I love creeking and bouldering, and I’m looking forward to doing more adventurous hikes in the range. https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220506/4f09c28bd6a6f3da19959f8169e9f10...

Re: Water holes on East Fork River north of Fish Fork
Long time lurker here, finally joined to respond to Taco’s inquiry about the East Fork!
I’d love to do the whole East Fork from Vincent Gap to the Bridge or vice versa.
Taco, you still interested in it for this summer? I’ll send you a pm too ?
