Re: Angeles Crest Highway (CA-2)

Just talked to the Waterman guy. He is convinced lift 1 will be spinning soon. I hope so! I’ve never gotten to ride the lifts there. That would be really sick.

He actually goes up and gets in his bulldozer to work on repairs to Lift #1. They'll be ready for skiing this winter for sure he says.

Sorry but there is ZERO chance they are operating that chair this winter. I have seen it recently and the entire frame for the terminal is bent. The road ...

Re: CalTopo's new Shittier Imagery

I found my notes. The good news is that the globalimagery tiles are still accessible and usable. The bad news is that those actually look worse than the NAIP tiles. Do either of you recall what the "good" imagery was? If it was google's tiles, then those are probably gone (likely too expensive and ...

Can ya'll share some other mapping options?

I ended my paid account with them.

Re: 21 days off, no plans

One way to do this that doesn’t fit option 4 but makes a lot of sense is to take the train to the Bay Area or just north of it and ride south. If I take my road bike and do big miles I can do that in 2-3 days, but at a fun pace that could be a week and a half or so. It’s ballpark 500mi so if you ...

the yosemite grade system was invented at tahquitz (first published by chuck wilts 1956). so the original 5.0-5.9 are at tahquitz. tahquitz was the benchmark for all the other places to be graded from.

yosemite grades are very similar to tahquitz, as are josh (maybe a little softer). there might be ...
